The Los Angeles Lakers hit the road to take on the San Antonio Spurs for a Thursday night contest. On Nov. 18, the Spurs beat the Lakers 116-107. LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 23 points apiece. Los Angeles has won three of their last five games and San Antonio has won four of five. The Lakers balanced attack is led by Louis Williams who is averaging 17.7 points off the bench. Can D’Angelo Russell lead the Lakers to a big upset win on the road?

D’Angelo Russell finished with nine points (4/14 fg), eight rebounds, and six assists. Julius Randle added six points and 10 rebounds. Portland out-rebounded Los Angeles 50-38. The Lakers fell to 10-11 at home this season.

Leonard led the Spurs with 30 points and seven rebounds. Tony Parker had 14 points and seven assists. The Spurs shot 48 percent from the field and the Bucks shot 52 percent. LaMarcus Aldridge missed the contest due to a stomach virus. San Antonio had trouble defending Michael Beasley (28 points) and Jabari Parker (22 points).

Danny Green went for 14 points on 4-of-9 from deep. Jonathon Simmons added 14 points off the bench. Milwaukee committed 12 turnovers and San Antonio had 15. The Spurs fell to 13-5 at home this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers are:

  • 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
  • 3-1-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in San Antonio.

The San Antonio Spurs are:

  • 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 Thursday games.
  • 11-4 over in last 15 games playing on 1 days rest.

The Lakers are heavy underdogs for right reason but they should come out with some high intensity. Look for Russell and Randle to play well after they struggled on Tuesday. At the end Leonard and Aldridge will be too much but the Lakers will hang around.

The pick: Los Angeles
