The Army Black Knights are going bowling for the first time since 2010 and just the second time since 1996. They take on the North Texas Mean Green in the Zaxby’s Heart of Dallas Bowl Tuesday afternoon. Army won their final two games of the season, upsetting #25 Navy 21-17 in their regular season finale December 10 for their first win over the Midshipmen since 2001. North Texas lost four of their last five after getting walloped 52-24 by UTEP on the road back on November 26. The Black Knights won four of the five previous meetings but it was North Texas taking a 35-18 road win earlier this season on October 22 in the most recent matchup.... Read More

The Mid-American Conference gets a shot at the big, bad SEC the day after Christmas. The Miami (OH) RedHawks, one of the better stories in college football this year, take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the St. Petersburg bowl late Monday morning. Miami (OH) started the year 0-6 but won their final six games after nipping Ball State 21-20 at home on November 22. Mississippi State snapped a two game skid by thrashing Ole Miss 55-20 in the Egg Bowl on November 26 in Oxford. This is the first time these two schools have met on the gridiron.... Read More

Middle Tennessee State hopes to have quarterback Brent Stockstill (collarbone) back for the first time since Nov. 5. They'll face a Hawaii squad that earned an exemption to a bowl game despite being 6-7, because not enough teams wound up bowl-eligible. The Rainbow Warriors did make some major strides from last season and ended up winning their last two games over UMass (46-40) and Fresno State (14-13). Another bowl game, another head coaching change. Western Kentucky, who is going to their third straight bowl game, will use an interim coach because Jeff Brohm led to take over at Purdue. Western Kentucky won their second straight Conference USA championship, which was capped by a 58-44 win over Louisiana Tech in the title game. Central Michigan and Tulsa battle in the Miami Peach Bowl on December 19th with ESPN televising. The Chippewas come in with a 6-6 record and are substantial underdogs to the 9-3 Golden Hurricane. The Chippewas struggled offensively at times this year and come in averaging 27 points per game. This was the strength of Tulsa, as they averaged an impressive 41 points per game. ... Read More

Appalachian State returns to the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Al. Last season, they faced Ohio U. and won the game 31-29. Toledo defeated Temple 32-17 in last season's Boca Raton Bowl. Appalachian State won their last two games against Louisiana-Monroe (42-17) and New Mexico State (37-7) to become co-champion of the Sun Belt. The Central Florida knights were 0-12 last year, but they turned things around this year and they look to finish their season strong with a win over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in the Autonation Cure Bowl at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
