Heroic Preview
HLTV World Ranking: 27th
The Danish squad of Heroic barely made it through group stage, but they're here and ready to compete. They were beaten 2-0 by Astralis and 2-1 by G2 before blanking North 2-0 in a winner-advance battle. Heroic are known to be strong by their diversity in their map pool. The team has been outstanding on Nuke lately with a 9-1 record the last three months. They've also been strong with Vertigo, Dust2, Mirage and Inferno with win rates above 50%.
The team leaders of Heroic are niko and stavn, but the team's production isn't heavily reliable on them by any means. These two along with TeSeS and cadiaN all have averaged more kills per round than deaths over the last three months which is very impressive. Their fifth player b0RUP isn't bad either with a kill to death ratio slightly under even. For Heroic to pick up a victory in this contest, they need to shape together and play well as a unit which they failed do to in the group stage.
Team Vitality Preview
HLTV World Ranking: 10th
The representation of France in this tournament, Team Vitality, are one of the best teams in the world for a reason. They rebounded from their opening 2-1 loss to Natus Vincere with great back to back 2-0 showings against Ninjas in Pyjamas and ENCE. Team Vitality hasn't lost a game on the map Vertigo in the past three months, and they've held win rates of at least 50% on Mirage, Inferno, Dust2 and Nuke also to complete a diverse map pool selection.
Team Vitality's success has come from behind the leadership of Zyw0o who is one of the best CS:GO players in the world. He's been outstanding for a while, and over the last three months he's averaged 0.79 kills per round while only dying 0.62 times a round. The rest of the team hasn't been anything special however which has cost them before. There's only one key to victory for Team Vitality, and that's not Zyw0o's performance because we know he'll be good. Someone, or some people, have to step in and help him out for them to pull a win.
Pick: Over 2.5 Rounds (-105 @ Bovada)(1 unit)
This is an intriguing matchup. Both teams are clearly stronger than the average CS:GO team, but at the same time neither are much better than the other. Zyw0o is one of the best in the business for Team Vitality, but niko and stavn are a great counter from Heroic. This has all of the makings to be a super-competitive matchup, and I fully expect this battle to take a third map to settle. Laying the juice with Heroic's +1.5 would be a good bet as well, but there's even better value on the over for a unit.
