MAD Lions Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 15th

The Danish squad of MAD Lions is a tough outing for anyone. Their group stage run wasn't pretty with losses with a score of 1-2 to BIG and 0-2 to Complexity, but they advanced with a 2-0 win over Mousesports in a winner advance, loser go home battle. MAD Lions have a really diverse map pool with win rates over 60% on Inferno, Overpass, Mirage, Nuke, Dust2 and Train. Their only downfall is Vertigo, a map which they haven't won on the last three months.

The team leader of MAD Lions statistically is Bubzkji, although acoR and sjuush aren't far behind him. This outstanding trio averaged 2.16 kills per round while only dying a nice 1.87 times a round. A nice selling point for MAD Lions is the fact that they don't typically rely on the output of only one player, although not havin a player to pull them out of a hole has cost them before. If MAD Lions sticks to their normal, slow-paced attack, then they shouldn't have many problems in this contest.

Team Spirit Preview

HLTV World Ranking: 13th

The mainly Russian roster of Team Spirit is a stout opponent. They made it through a tough Group C during the group stage with a 2-1 reord, and their only loss in those three matches was to FaZe Clan who won the group. Most of Team Spirit's climb through the HLTV world rankings can partially be attributed to the fact that they are strong on almost all maps. The only map they tend to struggle with is Vertigo with a 33.3% win rate the last three months.

The statistical team leader of Team Spirit is mir. He's been outstanding over the last three months with an average of 0.79 kills per round while only dying 0.63 times a round. An interesting thing about Team Spirit is that none of the players on their roster have a negative kill to death ratio over the last three months. All that Team Spirit needs to do to win is not get ahead of themselves. MAD Lions is a tough opponent, but Team Spirit is the slightly more well-rounded team.

Pick: Over 2.5 Maps (-115 @ Bovada)(2 units)

I am on the over for this battle for a few reasons. Both of these teams are coming in riding some good momentum which will be huge. Both of these teams also feature a very diverse map pool in which they excel also. I feel as though Team Spirit has the slightly better roster, but at the same time MAD Lions is not a joke. I don't see any way that either of these teams can win 2-0 as there isn't much of a gap between these two. I'm playing the over for two units as I expect this battle to take a third map to decide.
