Top NFL Free Agents for 2023 -Quarterbacks

The NFL regular season is over and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl. Now is the time for teams to try and fill holes on their roster and for bettors to keep track of the major moves. There are a lot questions about which players will be free agents or how many quarterbacks will be either franchise tagged, traded or both (Lamar Jackson).

Let’s take a look at the top unrestricted free agent quarterbacks available as of Feb. 16. Some players could be re-signed before 4pmET on Wednesday, March 15 when NFL free agency officially starts.

QB Current team Age

Lamar Jackson Baltimore 26

Jackson, the 2019 MVP, will likely be headed for the franchise tag if the Ravens can’t reach an agreement. They won’t let him go for a pick because if they tag him, they can likely get a huge haul.

Daniel Jones NY Giants 25

Jones showed last season that he was a legitimate starter because he took care of the ball and ran for 708 yards with 7 TDs, while passing for 3,205 yards. He could hold out for more money, but expect the Giants to do what they can to re-sign him.

Geno Smith Seattle 32

Talk about a late bloomer, Smith did not play like a journeyman last season. Good quarterbacks don’t come around too often so it would behoove the Seahawks to re-sign him, but he’s going to get $35M+.

Derek Carr Oakland 31

Carr still has pretty good physical tools, but his numbers are on the decline. The Raiders were done with him and he was done with the Raiders.

Jacoby Brissett Cleveland 31

Brissett showed in Cleveland that he could be at least a band-aid quarterback or a bridge QB, who could give your rookie QB time to learn. He actually earned the sixth-highest Pro Football Focus grade/

Jimmy Garoppolo San Francisco 31

It’s hard to believe that Jimmy G. is 31, but time flies when you produce a lot of wins and injuries. The 49ers can’t afford to keep him at this point, but when healthy, he’s pretty good. That also depends on the system he goes to because Kyle Shanahan got 16 TDs and 4 INTs out of him in 11 games.

Baker Mayfield LA Rams 27

Is Mayfield a starter or a backup? He could still end up with the Rams as the backup to Matthew Stafford. Or he can be somebody’s place holder on a bad team.
