Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Saturday October 24 2026

By: Alex MacMillan Published 10/23/2026, 11:47 AM ET

Today’s Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders picks for Saturday, October 24, 2026, close the regular season at Mosaic Stadium with Saskatchewan’s playoff destination still undecided. Edmonton is 13-4 and has already clinched first place in the West, while Saskatchewan is 9-8 and knows a victory will send the Roughriders to BC for the Western Semi-Final. A loss would push Saskatchewan into the crossover and a trip to Toronto.

Saskatchewan is favored by 1.5 points at several books, while the total is around 51.5. Bettors can follow more CFL betting predictions, compare current CFL odds, and review posted CFL player props before kickoff. The Best Bet is Under 51.5 because both clubs are starting reserve quarterbacks and Regina is expected to have extreme wind throughout the afternoon.

Best Available Odds for Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders

  • Moneyline: Edmonton +106, Saskatchewan -128
  • Spread: Edmonton +1.5 (-110), Saskatchewan -1.5 (-110)
  • Total: Over 51.5 (-110), Under 51.5 (-110)

The market has moved sharply from earlier in the week, when Saskatchewan was favored by more than a field goal at some books. The current line is closer to Saskatchewan -1.5 to -2.5. That movement reflects confirmed quarterback changes and Edmonton’s extensive list of players who may rest or sit, but it also shows how uncertain the matchup becomes when both teams move away from their normal starters.

  • Time: 3:00 PM ET / 1:00 PM CST
  • Location: Mosaic Stadium, Regina, Saskatchewan

  • Key Availability: Saskatchewan will start Jack Coan for the first time in his CFL career while Trevor Harris rests. Edmonton is expected to start Taylor Powell with Cody Fajardo sitting. The Elks also have a long list of doubtful or unavailable defenders, including Malik Carney, Joel Dublanko, Tyrell Ford and Kordell Jackson, while several offensive regulars have been limited.

Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Preview

Under normal circumstances, a matchup between Edmonton’s 31.3-point offense and Saskatchewan’s balanced attack could support a total in the mid-50s. Week 21 is not a normal circumstance. Both teams are changing quarterbacks, one club has already clinched everything it can, and the weather is likely to make the passing and kicking games difficult.

Edmonton has no standings incentive. The Elks have secured first place in the West and will host the Western Final after a first-round bye. That makes protecting Fajardo and other key starters the obvious priority. Powell is expected to receive the start after seeing only limited action this season.

Powell has been efficient in small samples, but a full road start in strong wind is a much different challenge. Edmonton can reduce the burden by leaning on its run game, which has been one of the league’s strongest all season. A ground-heavy approach also helps the Under by extending possessions and reducing the number of total drives.

Saskatchewan’s quarterback change is even more dramatic. Coan will make his first CFL start after throwing only two passes this season. The Roughriders are resting Harris despite still having their playoff destination at stake because they have already secured a berth and want their veteran quarterback healthy for next weekend.

That creates an unusual incentive structure. Saskatchewan wants to win, but not at the cost of exposing Harris or other key pieces. The Roughriders can secure third place in the West with a victory, yet a loss still sends them to the playoffs through the crossover. This is meaningful, but not an elimination game.

Coan will have a strong supporting cast around him, including Samuel Emilus and Saskatchewan’s rushing options, but the wind may force the offense to stay conservative. Deep throws become much more difficult when gusts approach 90 km/h, and even routine punts and field goals can become unpredictable.

Matchup Breakdown

The wind is the dominant environmental factor. Mosaic Stadium can be difficult for passing even in normal Prairie conditions, and Saturday’s forecast is extreme enough to change play-calling. Both teams should have a strong incentive to use the run game, short passes and field position rather than challenging the wind vertically.

The quarterback matchup reinforces that approach. Powell has more professional starting experience than Coan, but neither team is using the quarterback who produced its season-long offensive averages. Applying those averages directly to this game would overstate the likely passing efficiency.

Edmonton’s defensive absences are the biggest threat to the Under. The Elks are resting or missing several important defenders, which could allow Saskatchewan to run efficiently and create short fields. The Roughriders still need Coan to finish drives, though, and the weather makes long-range kicking less reliable.

The spread is difficult because Saskatchewan has more motivation but Edmonton may have the more experienced backup quarterback. A short number in either direction does not create enough separation to make the side stronger than the total.

The total has already moved lower from earlier numbers in the mid-50s. That movement is justified rather than excessive. A game built around reserve quarterbacks and extreme wind can stay in the 40s even if both teams move the ball reasonably well.

Game Thesis: Saskatchewan should have slightly more urgency and the benefit of home field, but both teams are prioritizing playoff health over regular-season offensive volume. With Coan and Powell starting and severe wind expected throughout the afternoon, the scoring environment is much lower than the teams’ season averages suggest. Projected final: Saskatchewan 23, Edmonton 20.

Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Best Bet - Total: Under 51.5 (-110)

Under 51.5 is the Best Bet because multiple independent factors point in the same direction. Both starting quarterbacks are being rested, Saskatchewan is handing Coan his first CFL start, and Edmonton is moving to Powell after clinching the West.

The weather is the strongest supporting factor. Winds near 60 km/h with much higher gusts can reduce deep passing, complicate kicking and push both teams toward conservative play-calling.

The risk is Edmonton’s depleted defense. Saskatchewan may be able to run efficiently against a rotated front, and turnovers can always create short fields. The total still requires 52 points in a game where both coaching staffs have clear reasons to limit offensive risk.

Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Spread Pick: Saskatchewan -1.5 (-110)

Saskatchewan -1.5 is a secondary lean because the Roughriders have more to gain from the result and will be playing at home. A win keeps them in the West bracket rather than sending them across the country to Toronto.

The spread remains less attractive than the Under because Coan is making his first CFL start and Edmonton has enough roster depth to stay competitive.

Edmonton Elks vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Moneyline Pick: Pass

Saskatchewan is the projected winner, but the moneyline does not provide enough value compared with the short spread. Edmonton’s plus price is interesting with Powell under centre, yet the Elks have little reason to expose key contributors late in the game.

Prediction: Saskatchewan Roughriders 23, Edmonton Elks 20
