It’s an American League Central division clash on Friday, Sept. 12. Read our Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Guardians prediction along with our other Free MLB Picks. The White Sox are 57-90 and they are the worst team in the league as they are already eliminated from playoff contention. Chicago is in fine form, winning nine of their last 11 games. The Guardians are still pushing for the playoffs as they are just a few games out of a wild card spot. The White Sox are set to start Martin Perez ,while Tanner Bibee gets the nod for the Guardians. These two teams will meet with the first pitch 7:10 P.M. EST.

White Sox in their best form of the season

Chicago is 57-90 overall this season. They are in last place in the American League Central division. The White Sox also hold the worst record in the American League, too. They have a 25-47 record when they have played on the road. This is Chicago’s best stretch as they have won nine of their last 11 games coming into Friday. In their last game, they defeated Tampa Bay 5-1 at home on Thursday, Sept. 11. They won two of three games against the Rays during this mid-week series.

Martin Perez gets the start for the White Sox against the Guardians. The left-handed pitcher is 1-4 with a 3.15 ERA in eight starts and one relief appearance this year. Perez’s last start saw him throw four innings against the Tigers where he allowed six runs and five hits in a 6-0 loss on Sept. 6. Chicago is 3-6 when Perez has made an appearance this season. He has an ERA of 5.30 in four games on the road. In five games, Perez has a 3.16 ERA since the All-Star break.

The White Sox are hitting .236 this season, which ranks fourth-worst in the league. They have scored the fifth fewest runs, while they rank fourth worst in hits. Chicago ranks 21st in home runs hit, too. They are hitting .237 when they have played on the road. Since the All-Star break, the White Sox have hit .264 and .270 in nine games this month. They have a .191 batting average in 10 games against the Guardians.

Guardians still pushing for wild card spot

Cleveland is in second place in the American League Central division. They are at least nine games back of the Tigers and are more than likely to not win the division with just a few weeks left in the regular season. The Guardians are still pushing for a wild card spot in the American League. Entering Thursday night, they are in fifth place in the AL as they sit 3.5 games out of the Mariners for the final playoff spot. The Rangers are in fourth place in the wild card race 1.5 games out. The Guardians are finishing their mid-week series against the Royals on Thursday night. Prior Thursday’s game, Cleveland had won five of their last six games. They had also won six of their last eight outings.

On Friday, Tanner Bibee gets the start for the Guardians. The right-handed pitcher is 9-11 with a 4.69 ERA in 28 starts this season. His last start saw him throw 6.2 innings against the Rays on Sept. 6. He allowed two runs and five hits in a 3-2 win. The Guardians are 15-13 when Bibee has started this season. He has an ERA of 3.77 when pitching at home. In eight starts, Bibee has a 3.00 ERA versus fellow AL Central opponents.

The Guardians are hitting .225 this season, which is the worst in the sport. They have scored the fourth fewest runs while they have the fewest hits in the sport. Cleveland ranks 22nd in home runs, too. They have a .227 batting average when playing at home. They are also hitting .231 since the All-Star break. Cleveland is hitting .264 in 10 games in September. They are hitting .200 in 10 games against the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Guardians Pick

Spread Pick for Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Guardians

  • Cleveland Guardians -1.5 (5 units)

There’s one very big reason why the Guardians will get this win and cover the spread on Friday. They need to pile up the wins to push for a playoff spot with a just a few weeks to go. The Guardians have been playing well recently and are coming off of a good series against the Royals, and they are starting one of their top pitchers in Tanner Bibee, who has a 3.00 ERA vs AL Central opponents. The Guardians' offense is finally waking u,p hitting .264 in September. The White Sox are playing some of their best baseball, too. They have a .270 batting average this month, but in the 10 games against Cleveland, they are hitting .191. The Guardians are 8-2 against the White Sox this season and I think they will add to their win total with a lot riding on this weekend's series.

Take the Guardians to cover.

Over/Under Pick for Chicago White Sox vs Cleveland Guardians

  • Under 8.5 runs (5 units)

While there is a lot riding on this series for the Guardians, the two teams’ offenses have struggled all season. They are both hitting it well this month, but over a much larger sample size, the offense has been poor. The Guardians are hitting .200 against Chicago while the White Sox are hitting .191 versus Cleveland. If any of these two lineups start cold, it’s going to be another low-scoring evening.

Take the under on Friday.
