Auburn may not be elite, but it's experienced
Auburn (9-4 SU, 8-5 ATS, and 9-4 O/U) defeated Queens University 106-65 on Monday in a game it never trailed. The Tigers shot 56 percent overall, including 15-for-28 (54%) from three-point range. They also outrebounded the Royals 40-26 and scored 28 fast-break points. The visitors shot 38 percent from the field, including 2-for-15 (13%) from deep.
Senior forward Keyshawn Hall paces Auburn in scoring, averaging 20.1 points on 47.8 percent shooting. He also collects 8.0 rebounds per contest. A few other Tigers to watch against Georgia are sophomore guard Tahaad Pettiford (14.4 PPG), junior guard Kevin Overton (12.5 PPG), and senior forward KeShawn Murphy (9.6 PPG and 5.5 RPG).
Auburn averages 85.9 points per game (100th) on 47.4 percent shooting (95th), including 35.5 percent from three-point range (102nd). The Tigers' defense surrenders 76.8 points per game (191st) on 44.2 percent shooting (229th), including 33.0 percent from beyond the arc (188th). KenPom ranks Auburn 34th nationally, including 15th in offensive efficiency rating and 79th in defensive efficiency rating.

Georgia has played a weak schedule
Georgia (12-1 SU, 6-7 ATS, and 8-5 O/U) beat Long Island 89-74 on Monday, its sixth straight win since falling to Clemson in overtime. The Bulldogs didn't dominate, as they trailed the Sharks 44-41 at halftime, but took control in the second half. They shot 46 percent overall and knocked down 21 of their 29 free-throw attempts. They narrowly outrebounded Long Island but were outscored 48-32 in the paint.
Georgia averages 99.0 points (6th) on 49.3 percent shooting (44th), including 31.7 percent from beyond the arc (273rd). Defensively, the Dawgs allow 72.0 points per game (103rd) on 39.5 percent shooting (41st), including 31.4 percent from three-point distance (111th). UGA ranks 25th in NET rating, including 24th in offensive efficiency and 44th in defensive efficiency, per KenPom.
Sophomore guard Jeremiah Wilkinson paces Georgia in scoring at 17.3 points per game. He shoots 45.8 percent from the field. A few other Bulldogs players to watch against Auburn are junior guard Blue Cain (15.7 PPG and 5.5 RPG), junior guard Marcus Millender (10.6 PPG and 4.2 APG), and sophomore center Somtochukwu Cyril (9.6 PPG and 6.4 RPG).

Auburn vs. Georgia Pick and Preview
Spread Pick for Auburn vs. Georgia
- Tigers +4.5 (4 Units)
Auburn will attack a Georgia team that fouls often (111th in opponent FT attempt rate). The Tigers force their way to the foul line a lot (10th-highest FT attempt rate) and take pretty good care of the basketball (51st in turnover percentage), which is an x-factor against a Bulldogs team that loves to get out in transition (1st in fastbreak points per game).
Is UGA for real? While the Bulldogs are 12-1, they haven't played a challenging schedule (344th-toughest nationally, per KenPom) and lost to the only team they played ranked in KenPom's top 50 (Clemson). Auburn, on the other hand, has been tested often, having already played Michigan, Arizona, Houston, St. John's, NC State, and Oregon, winning three of those six (with a one-point loss to the Cougars). They may not be title contenders this season, but the Tigers' tournament experience and pedigree make them an attractive team against the spread at +4.5 on Saturday.
Over/Under Pick for Auburn vs. Georgia
- Under 173.5 (5 Units)
Georgia will attempt to push the pace (3rd in schedule-adjusted tempo), while Auburn (167th) will slow things down. I feel confident that the Tigers can hold the Bulldogs under their fast break scoring average by taking great care of the ball and generating additional possessions via offensive rebounds. Auburn ranks 33rd nationally in offensive rebounding percentage, while UGA is 165th in defensive rebounding percentage. Fewer possessions for the high-tempo home team will help under bettors. The Tigers also boast the lowest opponent second-chance conversion percentage in the nation, per Haslametrics. That's another x-factor to defending the Dawgs, who are a terrific offensive rebounding team in their own right. The Tigers also defend well without fouling (24th-lowest opponent FT attempt rate).
In short, I believe Auburn can do enough things right defensively and slow down the pace to prevent Georgia from putting up too many points. The Bulldogs' weak strength of schedule makes them tough to trust, and I'm not convinced they will score enough in their toughest game to date to push the total over 173 points.
