Auburn aims for its sixth straight victory over Missouri. Last season, Auburn beat Missouri 84-68 as an 18-point home favorite, and the game went under the 154.5-point line. Auburn opens as a small 1.5-point fave this time around, while the total sits at 156.5 points.
Let’s take a closer look at this Auburn vs. Missouri prediction, one of our NCAAB picks for Wednesday’s slate. The tip-off at Mizzou Arena is set at 7:00 PM ET.
Auburn is coming off a big win
The Auburn Tigers (10-6; 10-6 ATS; 11-5 O/U) snapped their two game skid last Saturday. After starting their SEC campaign with consecutive defeats against No. 23 Georgia 104-100 in overtime and Texas A&M 90-88, the Tigers trounced No. 15 Arkansas 95-73 as 2.5-point home favorites.

Auburn dominated Arkansas, shooting 56.7% from the field (10-for-22 from deep) and posting a 20/10 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Tigers outrebounded the Razorbacks 37-28 while scoring 48 points in the paint. Senior wing Keyshawn Hall led the way for Auburn with 32 points and five assists.
Hall scored 32 points in a tough home loss to Texas A&M, too. He averages 21.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists while making 44.8% of his shots from deep. Sophomore guard Tahaad Pettiford tallies 14.3 points and 3.2 assists per game, and junior guard Kevin Overton posts 12.9 points and 3.5 boards a night.
Auburn scores 125.8 points per 100 possessions (6th in the country) and allows 105.2 points in return (108th). The Tigers rank ninth in the country in offensive rebound percentage (39.9%) and 18th in free-throw rate (.454).
Missouri hopes for a bounce-back performance
The Missouri Tigers (12-4; 7-9 ATS; 6-10 O/U) started their SEC campaign with consecutive wins over No. 22 Florida 76-74 and Kentucky 73-68. Their winning streak came to an end last Saturday, when the Tigers suffered a 76-69 defeat at Ole Miss.
Missouri was a slight 1.5-point road underdog at Ole Miss. The Tigers missed half of their 24 shots from the foul line, which cost them a victory. Missouri made 49.0% of its field goals (7-for-24 from deep), and senior forward Mark Mitchell led the charge with 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
Mitchell is the best player on this Missouri team. He averages 17.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Senior guard Jayden Stone posts 13.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, and junior guard Anthony Robinson adds 11.0 points and 4.1 assists a night.
Missouri scores 118.0 points per 100 possessions (58th in the country) and surrenders 105.1 points in return (107th). The Tigers are 12th in the nation in 2-point percentage (60.4%) and 41st in offensive rebound percentage (36.3%).
Auburn vs. Missouri Pick
Spread Pick for Auburn vs. Missouri
- Auburn -1.5 (5 units)
Missouri’s interior defense has been pretty solid thus far. Senior center Shawn Phillips tallies 1.5 blocks per game, and Missouri ranks 31st in the country in opposing 2-point percentage (46.3%). However, their 3-point defense has been awful. Missouri is 328th in opposing 3-point rate (.454) and 305th in opposing 3-point percentage (36.4%).
Auburn loves to attack the paint, but Steven Pearl’s boys will have to lean on 3-pointers in this matchup. They shoot 34.8% from downtown (121st in the country). Their defense is mediocre across the board, though Auburn is 69th in opposing free-throw rate.
Both teams have flaws on defense, so this game will be a joy to watch. It could easily go either way, and I am going to take Auburn because of its offense and depth. Auburn has five players with points per game in double digits, and four of them are solid 3-point shooters.
Over/Under Pick for Auburn vs. Missouri
- Over 156.5 (5 units)
Both Auburn and Missouri are in the middle of the pack when it comes to pace, but I won’t overthink the total in this game. Give me the over.
As I noted, Missouri’s 3-point defense is awful. Auburn’s offense is one of the most prolific in the nation, but its defense has shortcomings. Moreover, both teams love to crash the offensive glass.
The over is 11-5 in Auburn’s last 16 games overall. Each of its previous five showings on the road has gone over the total. Also, the over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between Auburn and Missouri, and it is 10-2 in Missouri’s last 12 outings in conference play.
