Bradley is coming off a shocking loss
The Bradley Braves (1-2; 1-2 ATS; 1-2 O/U) have only won one of their first three games this season. After a 69-63 loss against St. Bonaventure in their season opener and an 85-54 thrashing of Central Michigan, the Braves suffered a shocking defeat to UT Martin 78-67 this past Wednesday.

The Braves were 15.5-point favorites over the Skyhawks, who shot 56.0% from the field (11-for-24 from deep). Bradley made just three of its 20 shots from deep while going 30-for-37 from the foul line, and sophomore guard Jaquan Johnson led the way with 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and nine steals.
Bradley returned 27.8% of minutes played and 27.2% of scoring from its 2024-25 roster. Johnson was coming off the bench last season, and he’s now a key player for the Braves. Junior guard Demarion Burch (calf) is in danger of missing his third straight game after scoring 13 points against St. Bonaventure.
San Francisco aims for another home W
The San Francisco Dons (2-1; 0-2 ATS; 0-2 O/U) opened the season with a 98-53 thrashing of UC Santa Cruz at home. After a 76-70 defeat at Memphis, the Dons bounced back in front of the home audience last Wednesday, outlasting Portland State 80-70 as 12.5-point home favorites.
San Francisco led Portland State from start to finish and by as many as 21 points, but the Dons allowed a whopping 50 points in the second half. Each team posted 15 offensive rebounds, and the Dons went 10-for-25 from downtown and 18-for-25 from the charity stripe. Junior guard Ryan Beasley led the Dons with 23 points and four assists.
The Dons returned 44.0% of minutes played and 37.6% of scoring from their 2024-25 roster. Junior forward Mookie Cook (14.3 PPG, 7.0 RPG), a transfer from Oregon, is San Francisco’s leading scorer this season. Senior forward Ndewedo Newbury has yet to make his season debut, as he’s recovering from a leg injury.
Bradley vs. San Francisco Pick
Spread Pick for Bradley vs. San Francisco
- Bradley +8.5 (5 units)
The bookies might have overreacted following Bradley’s loss to UT Martin. The Dons should be favored in this game, but I think that 8.5 points is a lot. The Braves are a well-coached team, and Brian Wardle will know how to get his guys back on track.
Wardle’s teams have been well-known for their aggressive defense. This Bradley team ranks 23rd in the country in defensive turnover percentage (24.5%). The Braves allow 102.5 points per 100 possessions (97th), and they fought bravely against St. Bonaventure on opening night.
The Dons are certainly a more physical team than Bradley. San Francisco allows 99.6 points per 100 possessions (49th) but turns the ball over on 18.2 percent of its possessions (185th). I expect the Braves to hang around and beat the number.
Over/Under Pick for Bradley vs. San Francisco
- Under 149.5 (5 units)
The Braves register 69.9 possessions per 40 minutes (264th in the nation). They will look to slow things down as much as possible when having the ball. The Braves don’t want to run up and down the floor against the Dons, who register 71.0 possessions per 40 minutes (194th). As I noted, San Francisco is a more physically gifted team than Bradley.
Hereof, I’m going with the under. The Braves will continue to play aggressive defense and try to force the Dons into a lot of tough shots. The under has hit in nine of Bradley’s last 11 games overall.
