Butler vs Georgetown picks matter more than the records suggest because this Big East matchup is built around a simple question: can Butler make enough shots to overcome Georgetown’s defensive structure? The market is leaning toward the home team, and the first meeting backed that up. For more college basketball predictions, here is my full breakdown of the odds, line movement, matchup edges, and best bets for Wednesday night at Capital One Arena.

Georgetown

Butler heads to Capital One Arena to face Georgetown on Wednesday night (Feb. 18, 2026, 6:30 p.m. ET) in a Big East matchup that profiles as shot-making versus stops. Georgetown is laying -5.5 with the total sitting at 145.5, and the numbers show why the Hoyas are favored.

Georgetown has been steadier on both ends, scoring 75.3 points per game and allowing 73.2. That type of profile tends to play well at home, especially when the spread is around two possessions. The Hoyas are not relying on one player to go nuclear. They are winning by being more consistent, taking care of the physical possessions, and forcing opponents to execute.

The first meeting is a major reference point. Georgetown beat Butler 77-64 at Hinkle Fieldhouse on January 31. That was not a fluke result. It showed Georgetown can win the rebounding battle, secure loose balls, and get late-clock stops even when Butler tries to speed the game up.

Butler

Butler has been the higher-variance offense, averaging 79.7 points per game, but that comes with defensive leakage at 76.8 points allowed. That split is dangerous on the road because it creates a situation where Butler can look great for eight minutes, then give it all back in the next four.

The Bulldogs’ ceiling is real. When the perimeter shots are falling, they can rip off 10-0 runs quickly. The problem is that the ceiling is tied to availability. Leading scorer Finley Bizjack (17.4 ppg) is listed questionable. If he is limited or out, Butler’s creation shifts heavily to M. Ajayi and to role players hitting tough threes late in the clock.

Butler is also missing backcourt depth with Azavier Robinson (out, wrist; season) and Jalen Jackson (out, ankle; season). That matters because in a road environment, turnovers and foul trouble tend to show up more often. With fewer guards, Butler has less margin for error if Georgetown turns the game into a half-court grind.

Butler vs Georgetown

Georgetown is not completely clean on the injury report either. Langston Love is questionable, and DeShawn Harris-Smith is questionable for personal reasons. But the Hoyas’ identity has leaned more on structure and balance than on one high-usage scorer. That is the kind of profile that translates well when the market asks you to win by six or more.

From a betting perspective, the path is straightforward. Georgetown needs to defend without fouling, keep Butler off second chances, and make the Bulldogs execute in the half court for 40 minutes. That is exactly what Georgetown did in the first meeting, and it is why I am backing the Hoyas again here.

On the total, I like the Under. Georgetown’s best chance to cover is to control the game and shorten it. Butler’s shortened guard rotation also increases the risk of late-game scoring droughts, especially if Bizjack is not 100 percent. This total does not need a full collapse to miss. It just needs one long cold stretch from either side.

  • Butler is scoring 79.7 points per game but allowing 76.8.
  • Georgetown is scoring 75.3 points per game and allowing 73.2.
  • Georgetown won the first meeting 77-64 on January 31.
  • The spread has moved between +6.5 and +5.5 for Butler.
  • The total has moved from 146.5 down to 145.5.

Key Injuries and Notes BUT and GTWN

  • Butler leading scorer Finley Bizjack is questionable (17.4 ppg).
  • Butler guard Azavier Robinson is out for the season (wrist).
  • Butler guard Jalen Jackson is out for the season (ankle).
  • Georgetown guard Langston Love is questionable.
  • Georgetown wing DeShawn Harris-Smith is questionable (personal).

ATS and Total Picks

  • ATS Pick: Georgetown -5.5
  • Total Pick: Under 145.5

Final Score Prediction

Georgetown 74, Butler 66

How to Bet

This is a matchup where I prefer the team with the steadier defensive floor and the healthier rotation. Georgetown has already proven it can win this matchup comfortably, and Butler’s injury and depth issues make it harder to trust them on the road.

Before placing a wager, I recommend checking the latest sportsbook promo codes and shopping lines across the best sportsbooks to find the cleanest price. If you prefer alternative platforms, there are also strong options through social sportsbooks.

If you are looking for book-specific offers, you can also review the current bet365 bonus code or the fliff promo code before locking in your bets. For this game, I am backing Georgetown to control tempo, win the physical possessions, and cover in a lower-scoring Big East contest.
