Campbell Rebounds in Home Win

The Campbell Fighting Camels have endured a daunting schedule this season. Campbell has already played against Wisconsin and West Virginia early in the year. They were hit with a road defeat against Wake Forest to conclude November and an 87-76 road loss to Penn State earlier this month. Next, the Camels posted a 69-64 home win against Ball State on Saturday in a clash that had the Camels as seven-point favorites. Campbell sank 39% of their shots while Ball State shot 40%. The Camels have covered the spread in two of their past five games.

DJ Smith is a huge scoring threat. The senior guard has surpassed 20 points in six games this season. He scored 20 on Saturday and has delivered an average of 19.5 PPG. Dovydas Butka has been consistent, connecting on 50% of his shots in all but two games. The sophomore forward has posted an average of 16.5 PPG and is shooting 55%.

Jeremiah Johnson has scored 12 or fewer points in four of his last five games. The sophomore guard is averaging 13.7 PPG and 9.6 RPG. Muneer Newton has reached double digits in one game. The Fighting Camels are ranked 216th in DI in Ken Pommeroyโ€™s ratings. They have played a ton of road games where they have yet to win, posting an 0-5 record. Campbell is averaging 82.9 points on the year, marking them 145th. The Camels are squandering an average of 77.6 points, pegging them 225th in DI.

Gonzaga Seeks 11th Win of Season

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are seeking their 10th win of the season. Gonzaga is enjoying another dominating season so far. The schedule has brought in several strong opponents. They have beaten Creighton and Alabama. Gonzaga has just one defeat in a 101-61 decision against a ranked Michigan squad. Gonzaga beat Kentucky earlier this month and posted an 82-72 road win against UCLA on Saturday in a clash that had the Bulldogs marked as the big 10-point favorites. Gonzaga connected on 50% of its shots in the win, while keeping the Bruins to a 49% mark. Theย  Bulldogs have covered the spread in three of their past six games.

Braden Huff is having an outstanding season. The junior forward has surpassed 20 points in three straight games. Huff scored 21 points in the win on Saturday is sporting an average of 17.4 PPG and 5 RPG on the season. Graham Ike scored 28 points in the recent win against Kentucky. The senior forward has shot at least 50% in all but three games and has recorded an average of 17.3 PPG on 51.6% shooting this year.

The scoring depth continues with Tyon Grant-Foster, who amassed seven points in the recent win. The senior guard has reported an average of 11.5 PPG and 5.5 RPG. Adam Miller has reached double digits in just one of his past five games. The senior guard has posted an average of 9.5 PPG. Gonzaga is ranked second in the country in Ken Pomeroyโ€™s ratings. They climbed one spot in the recent edition of the AP Top 25 to #7. Gonzaga is undefeated on its home court, posting a 5-0 record, including a win against Creighton. Gonzaga is scoring an average of 92 points on the season, rating them 25th. The Bulldogs have conceded 65 or fewer points in six of their past ten games and are keeping opponents to an average of 66 points, placing them 29th in the entire country.

Campbell vs. Gonzaga Pick

Spread Pick for Campbell vs. Gonzaga

  • Gonzaga Bulldogs -37 (5 units)

The Campbell Fighting Camels have won just three games on the season, two of which were against non-DI teams. They lost to Weber State. The Gonzaga Bulldogs are once again one of the best teams in the entire country this season. They have dropped just one game and are destroying the competition. They beat Oklahoma by 25, Maryland by 40, and Kentucky by 35 points.

Furthermore, Campbell does not have the defense to keep this one within reach. They are squandering 109.8 points per 100 possessions compared to only 92.3 points per 100 by the stingy Bulldogs' defense, ranking them fifth in the country in adjusted defensive efficiency. Also, Gonzaga is shooting a strong 35.7% from beyond the arc. They should have success from deep, considering the Camels are pegged 210th in DI in three-point defense.

Over/Under Pick for Campbell vs. Gonzaga

  • Over 160 (5 units)

I expect a shootout. Campbell is decent in the offensive end. They have scored 76 or more points in five of their past eight games, including 76 points against Penn State. They stand above average in pace, ranking 55th in tempo.

In addition, Gonzaga has a potent offense. They are shooting a dazzling 52% on the season and have scored an average of 90 points in their past six games. They stand 52nd out of 360+ teams in DI in adjusted tempo. The over is a convincing 5-2 in the Bulldogsโ€™ past seven games.
