East Carolina vs. Richmond Pick
ECU vs. Richmond Spread Pick
- Richmond -6 (4 units)
East Carolina has to consider themselves fortunate to earn the win in their season opener. Clanking 80% of your three-point attempts and 15 free throws arenβt precursors to success most nights, but they caught a break as Georgia Southern struggled to shoot straight as well. East Carolina went 4-6 as the visiting team last season and three of those came against teams ranked 191st or lower in the KenPom rankings. Richmond is going to take some time trying to get their rotation up to speed with 11 new faces and after losing their top two scorers from a season ago. Still, the Spiders should be better offensively than they were a year ago and after seeing the Piratesβ issues defensively in the opener, give the edge to the hosts here.
ECU vs. Richmond Over/Under Pick
- Under 144.5 (4 units)
The Pirates were 240th in field goal percentage (43.6%), 248th in two-point shooting (50.1%), 289th in threes per game (6.7) and 309th in three-point shooting (31.6%) in 2024-25. East Carolina was below average in tempo, ranking 216th with an average of 66.8 possessions per contest. Richmond finished 241st in offensive efficiency, 292nd in effective field goal percentage (48.4%), 360th in offensive rebounding percentage (19.3%), 329th in field goal percentage (41.8%) and 315th in three-point shooting. The Spiders stood just 345th in tempo with 63.9 possessions a night last season. Look for the Spiders to grind this one down and keep this game under the number.
