George Washington (13-10, 4-6 A10) has lost three straight coming into this game, while Duquesne (13-10, 5-5 A10) is coming off a 71-65 upset win over George Mason on the road on Feb. 4. GW continues its slump
GW started this season at 5-0 and 6-1. They started conference play at 2-0 and 3-1, but have gone 1-5 since a 101-66 win over Loyola on Jan. 10. In their last game, they fell at Saint Joseph's 76-73 on Feb. 4 as a 1.5-point favorite. In the loss to the Hawks on the road, the Revolutionaries were led by Trey Autry, who had 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. GW shot just 36% from the field and allowed Saint Joe's to shoot 49% from the field.
A big issue for the Revolutionaries is that big man Rafael Castro (6-11, 220) has missed the last two games with a foot injury and is questionable for this one. Castro leads GW with 15.9 points and 9.0 rebounds on 63.9% shooting. If Castro doesn't play, forward Garrett Johnson (13.2ppg, 4.2rpg) will need to step up, along with forward Luke Hunger (6-10, 250), who produced 11 points and nine rebounds against Saint Joe's.
According to KenPom, GW is 83rd overall, 62nd in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 143rd in Adjusted Defense. In total rebound rate, George Washington is 43rd at 53.2%.

Dukes shock the Patriots
George Mason has been one of the best stories in the Atlantic 10 this season. They were in second place behind undefeated Saint Louis before taking on Duquesne on Feb. 4 at home. The Dukes shocked the Patriots 71-65, thanks to 25 points from Alex Williams, who went 7 of 12 from the field. GMU shot 49% from the field and 39% (7-of-18) from long range, but just 8 of 15 from the free throw line. The difference was the turnover factor as Duquesne forced 15 turnovers and committed just nine.
Duquesne has been playing well before the GMU win. They had won three of their last four games, but this was their biggest win of the season against a team now ranked 80th on KenPom. The Dukes have also had some tough losses against Saint Joe's (97-90 OT), Davidson (89-83 OT) and Saint Louis (81-77) at home. Amazingly, the Dukes beat Mason without leading scorer Tarence Guinyard, who averages 16.1 points and 5.5 assists. Williams adds 15.9 points, while shooting 48% from the field and 37% from 3-point range. Jakub Necas, who averages 8.3 points and 5.7 rebounds, is also questionable with an undisclosed injury.
According to KenPom, Duquesne ranks 114th overall, 130th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 115th in Adjusted Defense. In rebound rate, Duquesne ranks 129th at 51.1%.
Spread Pick and Prediction for GW vs. Duquesne
George Washington vs. Duquesne Odds and Prediction
- Duquesne +1.5 (4 units)
This is an odd line, especially considering the fact that Castro might be out again for the Revolutionaries. But GW was also a big favorite against Fordham and lost by 14 at home as an 11.5-point favorite. The Dukes have covered in five of their last six games. Duquesne is a really good shooting team, especially at home, where they make 49.3% of their shots and GW has been horrid defensively on the road, allowing teams to shoot 46.2% from the field and 37.7% from three-point range. GW is overvalued here. Take the home dog.
Total Pick for GW vs. Duquesne
- Under 161.5 (4 units)
George Washington has gone under in five straight games, while Duquesne has gone under in six of their last seven games. Both teams want to push the ball, but it's tough to push it when you can't always get the ball off the defensive boards. That's because both teams might be missing their top rebounders. Duquesne's defense has also been improved, especially in their last four wins, allowing just 62 points in that span.
