George Washington Falls in Standings

The George Washington Revolutionaries looked as if they would be in the hunt for the Atlantic 10 regular season crown, but that is no longer the case after losing five of their last seven. They currently sit in 9th in the 14-team conference, and will want to improve their seed for the conference tournament coming up at the end of the season. As of now, Joe Lunardi has the Atlantic 10 as a one-bid league for the NCAA Tournament, meaning only the winner of the conference tournament would advance.

In their last game, they were led by Luke Hunger with 24 points and 10 rebounds in their loss to VCU. Hunger is a role player who exploded for a big game last time out, he is only 6th on the team in scoring getting 8.5 PPG to go with 5.1 RPG. He is originally out of Montreal, and is a physical presence at 6'10 and 250 pounds. He has increased his scoring lately because their star center, Rafael Castro, has been out with an ankle injury which will likely sideline him here as well. This leaves Garrett Johnson as their top scorer, he is a 6'8 forward who can shoot from the outside and is getting 12.9 PPG in his junior season.

George Washington is ranked 80th overall out of 365 Division I teams in KenPom. They are 84th in offensive efficiency and 88th in defensive efficiency. They play at a slow pace, as their tempo ranks in at 240th.

Explorers Snap Six Game Skid

The La Salle Explorers came into their last game on a six game losing streak, but were able to snap out of it with a win over Rhode Island. This was not a statement win, as Rhode Island is 10th in the league standings, but the Explorers need to find some positive momentum while heading into the postseason. They are currently 12th in the conference standings.

In their win over Rhode Island, they were carried by Robert Dockery who finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds while dominating the paint. Dockery is a 6'6 sophomore forward, he began his career at Texas A&M, but moved over to La Salle to get more playing time. Dockery is averaging 10.2 PPG and 6.2 RPG this season. Their top scorer is Jaeden Marshall, a 6'5 senior guard scoring 12.0 PPG, but it is unclear if he will play here, as he sat out the last game with an injury. Jerome Brewer Jr. is out with an ankle injury, leaving Dockery as the only player in the game averaging double figures that is sure to play.

La Salle is currently ranked 222nd overall according to KenPom. They are 279th in offensive efficiency and 142nd in defensive efficiency. They play even slower than George Washington, ranking 321st in pace of play.

Key Injuries for George Washington vs. La Salle:

Spread pick for George Washington vs. La Salle

  •   George Washington to cover (5 units)

The 279th ranked offense in the nation could be without three of their top four scorers in this one, this is not a good sign for La Salle. The Explorers are short on talent, and are not going to be able to keep this close. Dockery has stepped up in recent games, but he does most of his work around the rim as a 6'6 forward, and George Washington has Hunger in the middle at 6'10 and 250 pounds. Hunger's game has exploded with Castro out of the lineup, as Hunger has scored 20 or more in each of his last three, including dropping 31 on George Mason. La Salle doesn't have enough healthy talent to keep this one close.

Take George Washington to win and cover.

Over/Under Pick for George Washington vs. La Salle

  •   Under (4 units)

These teams have been playing slow all season, and are both dealing with injuries to some of their top players. Each team is likely to be without their top scorer, as Castro is our for George Washington and La Salle will probably play without Marshall. George Washington is the better team, but are on the road, and their tempo ranks 240th, they will not look to play fast. La Salle is one of the slowest teams in the nation, ranking 321st in tempo, and will welcome more slow play as they try to keep this game close.

Take the under.
