Georgia State Hoping for Better Showing After Opener
Georgia State opened its season with a dud as they were clobbered on the road by Eastern Michigan in a matchup of mid-major programs Monday night. The Panthers now have to find a way to regroup as they head to a hostile environment against a power conference squad. Against Eastern Michigan, Georgia State struggled offensively in the contest all night long, sending them to defeat. The Panthers took their last lead at 14-11 midway through the first half before giving up a 13-2 run to trail 24-16 with 6:19 to go in the first half. They never got closer than six the rest of the way while trailing by as many as 22 in the loss.
In the game, Eastern Michigan shot just 29.3% from the floor, including seven of 23 from beyond the arc, and they finished eight of 12 at the charity stripe. The Eagles were beaten 53-38 on the glass, turned the ball over 17 times, and were pounded 54-14 in points in the paint in the contest. Jelani Hamilton led Georgia State with 13 points in the loss. He was the lone player for the Panthers to score in double figures. The rest of the starters for Georgia State combined to score only 19 points, so theyโre going to have to find some more offensive support if they hope to have any kind of success this year.

Georgia State vs. Cincinnati Pick
Georgia State vs. Cincinnati Spread Pick
- Cincinnati -29.5 (4 units)
Georgia State was walloped in their season opener by Eastern Michigan, and their struggles offensively is a bad harbinger of whatโs to come for them here. The Panthers shot sub-30% from the floor against the Eagles and now have to deal with a Cincinnati team that is capable of stifling opposing squads. Cincinnati had a solid offensive performance against Western Carolina in their opener and had four players in double figures in the game. The Bearcats are at home and they put the boots to the Catamounts, who are another flailing mid-major squad. Cincinnati is a stingy defensive squad, and they throttle Georgia State while piling up points of their own, helping them roll to a win here.
