Gonzaga managed to take down Oregon in Portland in their previous contest last Sunday, running their win streak to five games. The Bulldogs ran their mark to 12-1 on the year and they open their WCC slate on the road here. Against Oregon, Gonzaga trailed by as many as five with 3:29 to play in the first half before closing the half on a 12-4 run to take a 42-39 advantage at intermission. The Bulldogs never let the Ducks closer than two in the second half while leading by as many as 15 en route to the win. Gonzaga shot 46.8% from the field, including 10 of 23 from three-point range, and hit 23 of 28 free throw attempts in the game. Braeden Smith led the Bulldogs with 21 points and seven assists in the win.

The Waves improved to 5-8 on the year and try to open conference play on a positive note here. Against Rice, Pepperdine never trailed by more than two in the contest and owned a 36-29 advantage at the half. The Waves outscored the Owls 48-33 in the second half to pull away for the victory. Pepperdine shot 49.2% from the floor, including 13 of 24 from three-point range, and held Rice to 33.3% shooting in the contest. Aaron Clark led the Waves with 25 points and six rebounds in the win.
