Bulldogs have steamrolled their competition
Gonzaga (5-0 SU, 4-1 ATS, and 1-4 O/U) has earned double-digit wins over Creighton, Oklahoma, and Arizona State in non-con play. The Bulldogs beat Southern Utah 122-50 in their previous game, shooting 68 percent from the floor with 66 points in the paint. They also outrebounded their opponent 44-26 and scored 27 points off of their 23 turnovers.
The Bulldogs were 26-9 last season, finishing second in the West Coast Conference with a 14-4 regular season record. They won the WCC Tournament, but couldn't sustain their momentum, losing in the second round of the NCAA tourney. Gonzaga is led by long-time head coach Mark Few, who has a 744-152 record in Spokane. The Zags were picked to win the WCC in the conference's preseason poll.
Gonzaga lost several key contributors from last season's squad, including veteran guards Ryan Nembhard (10.5 PPG and 9.8 APG) and Khalif Battle (13.6 PPG and 3.7 RPG). The Bulldogs aren't short on returning talent, though. Senior forward Graham Ike is back (17.0 PPG and 9.2 RPG) to lead one of the country's most experienced college hoops squads (average age of 21.2 years old). Braden Huff, a 6-10 redshirt junior, was a force in the postseason, giving the Zags an intimidating frontcourt combo. Gonzaga has versatile, lengthy wings and plenty of depth after Few made several significant offseason additions through the portal. A few of the impactful newcomers are senior wing Tyon Grant-Foster (14.8 PPG and 5.9 RPG at Grand Canyon), senior guard Adam Miller (9.8 PPG at Arizona State), and senior wing Jalen Warley (7.5 PPG at Florida State).
Gonzaga Bulldogs Basketball Injury Report:

Alabama is coming off a big-time win over the Illini
Alabama (3-1 SU, 2-2 ATS, and 1-3 O/U) has beaten Illinois and St. John's but lost to Purdue in its other significant non-conference game. The Crimson Tide bounced back from the loss to the Boilermakers with a 90-86 win over the Illini by knocking down 13 three-pointers and holding their own on the glass. The latter was significant, as Purdue outrebounded them 52-28, grabbing 19 offensive rebounds.
The Crimson Tide were picked to finish fourth in the SEC preseason poll. Star guard Mark Sears and star forward Grant Nelson must be replaced, but there are some significant pieces back, and the next group of playmakers is eager to take their places. Head coach Nate Oats (147-64 at Bama) welcomes back five players from last season's Elite Eight team, including 2025 All-SEC freshman selection Labaron Philon Jr. (19.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 1.3 SPG this season).
Sophomore guard Labaron Philon Jr. (20.5 PPG and 5.8 APG) and junior guard Aden Holloway (17.7 PPG) pace the Tide in scoring this season. He also averages 3.5 assists per game. A few other Alabama stars to watch against Gonzaga are Florida State transfer forward Taylor Bol Bowen (12.5 PPG and 4.3 RPG), senior guard Latrell Wrightsell (9.3 PPG), and senior guard Houston Mallette (10.5 PPG and 4.5 RPG).
Alabama Crimson Tide Basketball Injury Report:
- G Jalil Bethea (foot) is out. Bethea averaged 7.1ppg last season.
- C Collins Onyejaka (undisclosed) is out indef.
Gonzaga vs. Alabama Pick and Preview
Spread Pick for Gonzaga vs. Alabama
- Bulldogs -3 (5 Units)
Gonzaga is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games.
The Zags will win and cover on Monday against Alabama, with their defense leading the charge. Gonzaga is an elite defensive team, ranking third in defensive efficiency, including fifth in opponent FG% and ninth in opponent 3PT%. Their bigs are terrific rebounders and rim protectors, and the Tide have been too up-and-down from three-point range this season. Rebounding was a huge issue for Alabama against Purdue and could be a problem for them again on Monday.
Gonzaga's Warley can be a lockdown defender, and Grant-Foster is the hoops version of a Swiss Army Knife. Bama has terrific guards, but the Bulldogs are, well, bulldogs on the perimeter with their defensive intensity. They'll use their length to their advantage, preventing the Tide from getting hot from long range. While both teams will score plenty of points, the Zags' defense will be the difference.
Over/Under Pick for Gonzaga vs. Alabama
- Over 173 (4 Units)
This game is projected to be high-scoring. Alabama ranks 2nd nationally in pace, and Gonzaga is 12th, per Haslametrics.com. Both teams shoot a high percentage at the rim, and while the Tide can get hot from beyond the arc, the Zags simply dominate inside the arc (27th in 2PT%). I also expect Gonzaga to work its way to the free-throw line a lot, using its offensive rebounding edge (12.2 per game) to draw fouls on the Crimson Tide. These teams will play competitively in the first half and explode for points in the first seven minutes of the second half. While I expect the Bulldogs to slow down the Tide late in the game, it won't be enough to keep the total under the number.
