Long Beach State Beach (0-1) vs. Fresno State Bulldogs (1-1)

The 2025-26 college basketball betting action is heating up with a loaded Saturday card, and in this preview, we are breaking down the non-conference clash from Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA, to get you the Long Beach State vs. Fresno State prediction.

The Beach meet the Bulldogs for the second straight year. Last season, Fresno State outlasted Long Beach State 72-69 as a 3.5-point road underdog, and the game went over the 140.5-point line.

Fresno State aims for its fifth consecutive SU and ATS victory over Long Beach State. Read more about this Long Beach State vs. Fresno State prediction, and check out all our NCAAB picks for Saturday’s slate. The tip-off at Save Mart Center is set at 5:00 PM ET.

Long Beach State didn’t stand a chance against SDSU

The Long Beach State Beach started their 2025-26 campaign with a heavy 77-45 defeat at San Diego State this past Tuesday. The Beach failed to cover a huge 25.5-point spread, and the game went under the 135.5-point line.

Long Beach State couldn’t cope with San Diego State’s defense. The Beach shot just 32.2% from the field (5-for-24 from downtown) while committing 21 turnovers. They earned a paltry five free throws and scored three fast-break points.

Sophomore forward Petar Majstorovic led the way for LBSU with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman forward Dallas Washington accounted for seven points and four rebounds, while junior guard Isaiah Lewis had five points, four assists, and three steals.

It was LBSU’s 16th consecutive defeat dating back to the previous season. The Beach went just 7-25 overall and 3-17 in conference play in 2024-25, scoring 100.6 points per 100 possessions (285th in the nation) and allowing 114.1 points in return (317th).

Fresno State is coming off a heartbreaking loss

The Fresno State Bulldogs have already played two games. It’s a busy opening week for the Bulldogs, who opened the season with an 88-51 thrashing of the NCAA Division II Fresno Pacific this past Monday. The Bulldogs cruised past the Sunbirds, holding them to 26.7% shooting from the field (6-for-35 from deep).

Senior guard Jake Heidbreder dropped 19 points on Fresno Pacific, while junior guard Zaon Collins notched nine points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Two days later, the Bulldogs lost to South Carolina Upstate 67-66, and Heidbreder missed a couple of crucial shots in the final minute.

Fresno State blew an 11-point lead from halftime against the Spartans. The Bulldogs made just 35.5% of their field goals (7-for-30 from deep) while posting a troublesome 8/12 assist-to-turnover ratio. Collins led the way with 18 points and three assists, and Heidbreder added 12 points.

The Bulldogs return 17.1% of minutes played and 17.6% of scoring from their 2024-25 roster. They went 6-26 overall and 2-18 in conference play last season, scoring 100.5 points per 100 possessions (286th in the nation) and yielding 108.6 points in return (220th).

Long Beach State vs. Fresno State Pick

Spread Pick for Long Beach State vs. Fresno State

  • Fresno State (4 units)

Both Long Beach State and Fresno State made a ton of changes in the offseason, but this still looks like a clash between a couple of bad teams. The Bulldogs’ home-court advantage could easily make a difference, so I’m going with Fresno State.

Also, I like Zaon Collins, who’s driving the Bulldogs’ offense. This is his second year with Fresno State, and Collins averaged 12.4 points and 4.6 assists last season. The Bulldogs love to push the ball in transition, which suits Collins’ style of play.

Over/Under Pick for Long Beach State vs. Fresno State

  • Under (4 units)

Last season, the Bulldogs ranked 23rd in the country in pace, posting 71.1 possessions per 40 minutes. They continue to play fast, averaging 74.5 possessions through their first two showings in 2025-26. On the other side, the Beach love to slow things down. They were 332nd in the country in pace last season, recording just 64.3 possessions per 40 minutes.

Hereof, the total looks like a tricky wager. I’m going with the under only because both teams arguably lack talent. Nearly half of Fresno State’s field-goal attempts come from deep, and the Bulldogs make just 23.3% of their 3-point attempts.
