The 2025-26 college basketball season continues Friday, November 14, with the North Texas Mean Green taking on the Saint Mary’s Gaels in the non-conference showdown at University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, CA, so here’s our North Texas vs. Saint Mary’s prediction.
The Mean Green meet the Gaels for the first time since November 13, 2022, when Saint Mary’s routed North Texas 63-33 as an 8.5-point home fave.
Let’s look closer at this North Texas vs. Saint Mary’s prediction, one of our NCAAB picks for Friday night. The tip-off at University Credit Union Pavilion is set at 10:00 PM ET.
North Texas’ win streak is over
The North Texas Mean Green (3-1; 3-0 ATS; 0-3 O/U) swept the board in the opening week, beating New Mexico Highlands 88-54, Northwestern State 80-53, and Loyola Chicago 64-62. Last Wednesday, the Mean Green put an end to their winning streak, suffering a 66-64 defeat at Oregon State.

The Mean Green’s loss came in a bizarre fashion. The game was tied at 64-64 with 1.4 seconds left when North Texas called a timeout. The Mean Green had none, which meant a technical and two free throws for Oregon State to grab a win.
Sophomore guard Je’Shawn Stevenson was a guy who made a huge mistake. He finished the game with 14 points. Senior forward Dylan Arnett double-doubled with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while senior guard Will McClendon scored 16 points off the bench. North Texas blew a 10-point lead in the final five minutes.
In Daniyal Robinson’s first season at the helm, the Mean Green continue to play at a slow pace, recording 67.6 possessions per 40 minutes (351st in the country). They score 107.4 points per 100 possessions (136th) and allow 99.4 points in return (45th).
Saint Mary’s continues to roll
The Saint Mary’s Gaels (3-0; 3-0 ATS; 2-1 O/U) played two games in the opening week, beating St. Thomas-Minnesota 84-58 and Chattanooga 87-66. Last Tuesday, the Gaels extended their winning streak with a 90-60 thrashing of Ohio.
Saint Mary’s held Ohio to 37.5% shooting from the field (6-for-24 from deep) while making 50.0% of its field goals (11-for-22 from deep). The Gaels outrebounded the Bobcats 40-29 and posted a 22/9 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Freshman guard Liam Campbell tortured Ohio for 20 points in 21 minutes on the floor, while sophomore guard Mikey Lewis and junior forward Paulius Murauskas scored 14 points each. Lewis leads the way for the Gaels with 21.7 points and 4.0 assists per game, and Murauskas posts 17.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists a night.
The Gaels register just 66.4 possessions per 40 minutes (362nd in the nation). They score 113.1 points per 100 possessions (59th) and surrender 96.9 points in return (20th). The Gaels rank ninth in the country in 3-point percentage (46.9%).
North Texas vs. Saint Mary’s Pick
Spread Pick for North Texas vs. Saint Mary’s
- Saint Mary’s (4 units)
North Texas makes 38.9% of its 3-pointers (66th in the nation). The Mean Green are a solid defensive unit, but their defense has flaws. North Texas ranks 350th in the country in opposing free-throw rate (.610) and 305th in opposing 3-point rate (.475).
Hereof, I can only look at the Gaels in this matchup. Their 3-point shooting has been lights out thus far. Moreover, North Texas will struggle to cope with the Gaels’ length and size. Paulius Murauskas and Andrew McKeever will dominate the Mean Green in the paint.
Over/Under Pick for North Texas vs. Saint Mary’s
- Under (4 units)
I mentioned how good these two teams have been shooting the ball from deep thus far. However, I can only take the under on the total. Both teams love to be aggressive on the defensive side of the ball while playing at a slow pace.
The Gaels’ pace has been one of the slowest in the country for years, and it’s a similar case with the Mean Green. The under is 13-4 in the Gaels’ last 17 games overall, and it is 5-1 in the Mean Green’s previous six. Each of North Texas’ past five road tilts has gone under the total.
