ODU vs. William & Mary, Picks and Prediction, Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025
We've got a former CAA rivalry in this ODU vs. William & Mary prediction on Sunday afternoon from Williamsburg. ODU (3-5) is off to a rough start and is 0-5 on the road. The Tribe (6-2) are on a four-game winning streak. These teams have continued to meet despite Old Dominion leaving for Conference USA in 2012 and now it is in the Sun Belt. Last season, the Monarch took this game at home 88-83 as a 7.5-point home dog. Monarchs face a tough schedule
ODU is ranked 218th by KenPom and their strength of schedule is 89th. The Monarchs are coming off losing two straight games in Philadelphia to Drexel (75-71) on Nov. 23, another former CAA rival and Villanova (89-75) on Nov. 25. Jordan Battle led the Monarchs with 19 points against the Wildcats and also had three steals. Villanova shot 54% from the field and committed just seven turnovers. ODU shot 48% from beyond the arc (11 of 23) to stay competitive and covered the 20.5 points.
Ketron Shaw, a transfer from UMES, leads the Monarchs in scoring with 14.2 points and shoots 44.8% from the field. Guard LJ Thomas, an Austin Peay transfer, adds 12.5 points and 4.0 assists on 53.7% shooting.
ODU averages 75.3 points, 44.8% shooting (213th) and 34.6% three-point shooting (146th). They allow 42.8% shooting (156th) and 33.7% (236) from long range.
Tribe playing well.
William & Mary opened up with four straight games on the road and split them, losing to St. John's (93-60) and Richmond (90-86), but they've won four straight, beating Bowling Green, a non-D1 team Regent, UTEP, and Abilene Christian.
In their last win over Abilene Christian, 92-58, Cade Haskins led W&M with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting. That was part of the Jacksonville Classic, which they won with wins over UTEP and Abilene Christian. One issue the Tribe may have right now is that the second-leading scorer, Kyle Pulliam, is questionable with an undisclosed injury. Reese Miller leads the Tribe with 12.1 points per game on 49.2% shooting (40.7% 3pt).
Defense has been solid thus far, allowing 38.8% shooting and just 26.4% from long range (17th). Offensively, they are shooting 49.9% from the field and 33% from long range.
Spread Pick for ODU vs. William & Mary
ODU vs. W&M Pick and Prediction
- William & Mary -5.5 (4 units)
Yes, the Tribe's second-leading scorer might not play in this one, but this is a deep team. They have nine players who average between 6.8 points per game and 12.1 points. This is their third home game and they've been dominant at home, winning by double digits in two games. The Tribe's three-point defense has been their strength and that will help them get over the hump, along with one of the fastest paces in the nation that tends to wear teams down with their depth
Total for ODU vs. William & Mary
- Under 162.5 (4 units)
I just don't see ODU wanting to run with the Tribe. Most teams can't run with them. Old Dominion used to be very slow under Jeff Jones and they aren't much faster (246th in Adjusted Tempo) under coach Mike Jones (no relation). Despite their pace, William & Mary has gone under in three of their last four lined games.
