Ohio vs. Saint Mary’s Pick
Spread Pick for Ohio vs. Saint Mary’s
- Saint Mary’s (4 units)
Under Randy Bennett, the Gaels are known for their sturdy defense and slow pace on the offensive side of the ball. Yet, the Gaels execute their offense at a high level, and the Bobcats are not a great defensive team by any stretch of the imagination.
Ohio’s offense is decent, but the Bobcats will struggle to contain the Gaels for 40 minutes. Saint Mary’s will take full advantage of Ohio’s defensive shortcomings while dominating the Bobcats on the glass. I will lay points with the Gaels in this matchup.
Over/Under Pick for Ohio vs. Saint Mary’s
- Over (4 units)
The Gaels play at the fourth-slowest pace in the nation. It’s a small sample size, but like I said, the Gaels have been playing at a slow pace for years. On the other side, the Bobcats love to push the ball in transition. They were 42nd in the nation in pace last season, tallying 70.6 possessions per 40 minutes.
The Bobcats take good care of the ball, and they will try everything they can to force the Gaels to run up and down the floor. Ohio’s defense will struggle, but the Bobcats should score enough to push the total over the line. The over is 10-3 in Ohio’s last 13 games played in November.
