OK State Remains Undefeated on Season

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are seeking their 10th win of the season. Oklahoma State has yet to lose a game this year. It’s been an easier schedule, and they have earned some big wins, including a victory against Texas A&M earlier this season. They beat Northwestern in late November and posted an 84-75 win against Grand Canyon in their previous action last weekend to cover the 1.5-point spread. OK State shot a sharp 58% in the win and held Grand Canyon to a 46% mark. The Cowboys have covered the spread in four of their past five games.

Vyctorius Miller has been hit or miss in the past few games. The sophomore guard has scored five or fewer points in two of his past five games. Miller has reached 20 points on three occasions and is averaging 15.9 PPG on the season. Anthony Roy has been sharp, connecting on 50% of his shots in four of his past five games. The senior guard is averaging 15 PPG.

Jaylen Curry is capable of big numbers. He scored 30 points in a win last month. The junior guard has netted an average of 15 PPG and leads the team with 5.1 APG. Christian Cole has scored double digits in three of his past five efforts. The senior guard scored 16 last Saturday and has an average of 10.3 PPG. Kanye Clary has reached double digits in two games this season. The junior guard has posted an average of 7.6 PPG on 35% shooting.

The Cowboys are ranked 50th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and were not in the recent edition of the AP Top 25 despite their undefeated record. Oklahoma State has yet to play a true road game this season. Oklahoma State is averaging 91.3 points on the season, marking them 36th. The Cowboys are conceding an average of 76.5 points, placing them 190th in the country.

Oklahoma Dealt Third Defeat of Season

The Oklahoma Sooners are attempting to rebound from their third defeat of the season. Oklahoma has endured a daunting schedule with success. They dropped a meeting against Gonzaga early in the season and have posted wins against Marquette, accompanied by an 86-68 win vs. Wake Forest earlier this month. Next, the Sooners were dealt an 86-70 defeat by Arizona State last weekend, a game in which the Sooners were tabbed as six-point favorites. It was a tough one offensively, sinking just 35% of their shots while Arizona State connected on 47% of its attempts.  The Sooners have covered the spread in just one of their past five games.

Nijel Pack has surpassed 20 points in just two games this season. The senior guard scored 13 points in the recent win against Wake Forest and is sporting an average of 17.2 PPG on 50% shooting. Tae Davis has been steady, netting double digits in all but two games. The senior forward has reported an average of 13.3 PPG on 50% shooting on the season.

Xzavier Brown has been kept in check, scoring 11 or fewer points in five straight games. The junior guard scored 11 points in the recent defeat and is averaging 13.1 PPG. Derrion Reid has scored 16 or more points in three of his past five games. The sophomore guard has netted 11.1 PPG. Jadon Jones has scored double digits in just one game this season. The senior guard has contributed with an average of 7.6 PPG.

The Sooners are ranked 56th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings and have yet to lose a game on their home court, where they stand at 4-0. Oklahoma is posting an average of 84.8 points on the season, ranking them 125th. The Sooners have conceded 71 or more points in three of their past five games and are squandering an average of 75 points, pegging them 165th in the country.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Oklahoma Sooners Pick

Spread pick for Oklahoma State vs. Oklahoma

  • Oklahoma Sooners 1-.5 (5 units)

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have an undefeated 9-0 record on the season, but it’s been a rather easy schedule. They have yet to play against a ranked opponent and stand at 215th in the country in strength of schedule on Ken Pomeroy’s ratings. The Sooners have navigated a tougher schedule and have beaten good teams in Marquette and Wake Forest on the road.

Furthermore, Oklahoma is the superior offensive team here. They are averaging 119.3 points per 100 possessions, ranking them 50th in the country in adjusted offensive efficiency, compared to 117.3 points per 100 by Oklahoma State. Also, I am not concerned with the Sooners' shaky three-point defense, considering Oklahoma State is shooting a weak 32% from beyond the arc.

Over/Under Pick for Oklahoma State vs. Oklahoma

  • Over 167 (5 units)

I expect a ton of scoring in this one. Oklahoma State plays at a very quick pace. They stand at sixth in the country in adjusted tempo. Also, Oklahoma State is piling on the points, averaging 92.2 points in its past five games.

In addition, Oklahoma is also potent in the offensive end. They attempt an average of 30 three-point shots per game. Oklahoma has surpassed 80 points in five games this season. The over is a convincing 6-0 in the Cowboys’ past six games.
