Key Matchups for Auburn vs. Oregon

Ducks hoping to Quack

This is a big test for Oregon. They're coming off an 87-75 win over Oregon State on Nov. 17 and have not really been tested aside from that game against their rival. In fact, they've played all four games at home and did not cover as a favorite in any of the games.

Center Nate Bittle leads the Ducks with 18.8 points and 9.8 rebounds. Last season, he had a put-back dunk against Alabama to win the Players Era championship game with five seconds left. Point guard Jackson Shlestad is coming on with 44 points over his last two games. Oregon ranks 58th on KenPom, while ranking 85th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 29th in Adjusted Defense.

Younger Pearl is trying to lead Tigers to SEC crown

Steven Pearl had the tough task of taking over for his father, Bruce, at Auburn right before the season started. That was a huge surprise as Bruce Pearl was the face of a very successful Tigers' program, where football usually supercedes college hoops. To make matters worse, Auburn lost its best player, Keyshawn Hall (23.3ppg, 11rpg), against then No. 1 Houston on Nov. 16. The Tigers fell to the Cougars 73-72 (+7.5) as Hall was injured in the second half. He has a lateral foot sprain and there is no timetable yet, but he's likely to miss some time.

Auburn bounced back after the loss to Houston with a 112-66 win over Jacksonville State, 112-66 and covered the 30 points. Freshman Elyjah Freeman (6-8, 185) averages 11 points and 5.6 rebounds, while Mississippi State transfer KeShawn Murphy (6-10, 230) adds 14.3 points and 6.7 rebounds. Kevin Overton, a 6-5 guard, is a Texas Tech transfer who chips in with 11.6 points and 1.8 steals per contest.

The Tigers rank 21st on KenPom and 17th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency.

Oregon:

  • 10-4 Under last 14 games.

Auburn:

  • 4-1 ATS last 5 games.
  • 5-0 Over last 5 games.

Oregon vs. Auburn Final Score Prediction

  • Oregon 82- Auburn 78

There's something about Dana Altman and his Oregon teams in Las Vegas. He's 28-9 in games played in Vegas, which includes games played in the old Pac-12 tournament, which was last played in March of 2024. Pearl has more talent, even without Hall, but he's not his father yet. Altman has the coaching advantage and the fact that they don't have to prepare for Hall is a bonus. They can be methodical (170 Adjusted tempo) and will work it inside to Bittle. Their defense and rebounding have been their calling card in the early going, allowing just 38.3% shooting and 30.8% from beyond the arc. Auburn is 149th in tempo, but they can score as they've gone over in five straight games going back to last season's loss to Florida in the Final Four. This will go over.
