Providence vs. Penn State Pick
Providence vs. Penn State Moneyline Pick
- Penn State (4 units)
Providence has been a high-octane offensive attack in the early going but they’ve struggled to stop anyone on the other end of the floor. The Friars’ win over New Hampshire marked the first time they had allowed fewer than 79 points in a game this season. Penn State may not be as high powered as the Friars but they are above average on the offensive end. In addition, the Nittany Lions are solid defensively and they are healthier than Providence at this stage of the year. Given the Friars’ defensive woes, you have to fade them a bit here. Take Penn State in this one as they run their record to 6-0 on the year.
Providence vs. Penn State Over/Under Pick
- Over (4 units)
Providence enters this game having gone over the number in all five of their contests this season. The Friars are 44th in offensive efficiency, 47th in effective field goal percentage (56.7%), 58th in turnover percentage (14.4%) and 44th in two-point shooting (61.2%) on the year. Providence is 25th in adjusted tempo with 73.9 possessions a night. Penn State is 63rd in offensive efficiency, 23rd in effective field goal percentage (58.9%), 6th in turnover percentage (11%), 19th in field goal percentage, 50th in two-point shooting (60.9%) and 88th in three-point shooting. The Nittany Lions are 274th in tempo with 68.8 possessions a night. Penn State has seen the under post a 3-2 mark on the year. If Providence pushes the pace, Penn State takes advantage of the Friars’ soft defense and pushes this game over the number.
