Saint Mary’s Gaels (9-1) vs. Boise State Broncos (7-3)

The college hoops betting action continues Sunday, December 14, 2025, with the non-conference showdown at Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls, ID, and we’ve got you covered with our Saint Mary’s vs. Boise State prediction.

The Gaels meet the Broncos for the third straight year, and Boise State aims for its fourth consecutive SU and ATS victory over Saint Mary’s. Last season, the Broncos outlasted the Gaels 67-65 in overtime, and Boise State was a 2.5-point dog at the neutral site. That game was also played at Mountain America Center in Idaho Falls.

Let’s look closer at this Saint Mary’s vs. Boise State prediction, one of our NCAAB picks for Sunday’s card. The tip-off is set at 6:00 PM ET.

Saint Mary’s is back on track

The Saint Mary’s Gaels (9-1; 6-3 ATS; 5-4 O/U) put an end to their eight-game winning streak on November 28, suffering a 96-71 defeat against Vanderbilt at the neutral site in Nassau, Bahamas. The Gaels committed 16 turnovers and were outscored 48-24 in the paint in what was their worst defensive performance of the season.

Saint Mary’s bounced back last Sunday, beating Davidson 70-61 as an 8.5-point road fave. The Gaels outscored the Wildcats 44-26 in the paint while posting 17 offensive rebounds. Sophomore guard Joshua Dent led the way with 21 points and five assists, and sophomore center Andrew McKeever added 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Dent drives the Gaels’ offense, averaging 12.3 points and 4.7 assists. Junior forward Paulius Murauskas tallies 18.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while sophomore guard Mikey Lewis adds 16.8 points and 3.6 boards a night.

The Gaels score 115.4 points per 100 possessions (60th in the nation) and allow 96.7 points in return (16th). Their defense ranks 21st in the nation in 2-point percentage (44.5%), 45th in 3-point percentage (29.4%), and 24th in free-throw rate (.253).

Boise State eyes its fourth straight win

The Boise State Broncos (7-3; 5-4 ATS; 2-7 O/U) suffered consecutive defeats at the Southwest Maui Invitational last month, losing against USC 70-67 and NC State 81-70. Since then, the Broncos have won three straight games over Chaminade 102-76, Butler 77-68, and Duquesne 86-64.

Last Wednesday, Boise State cruised past Duquesne, covering a 14-point spread in front of the home fans. The Broncos outrebounded the Dukes 38-29 while going 12-for-21 from beyond the 3-point line. Sophomore forward Pearson Carmichael dropped 26 points on Duquesne, and junior center Drew Fielder scored 23 points.

Fielder leads the way for the Broncos, averaging 13.6 points and 5.4 rebounds. Junior forward Andrew Meadow tallies 12.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game, and senior guard Dylan Andrews posts 11.5 points and 4.5 assists a night.

Boise State scores 113.4 points per 100 possessions (77th in the country) and surrenders 97.6 points in return (21st). The Broncos’ defense is 164th in the nation in 2-point percentage (51.2%), 92nd in 3-point percentage (30.9%), and 138th in free-throw rate (.336).

Saint Mary’s vs. Boise State Pick

Spread Pick for Saint Mary’s vs. Boise State

  • Saint Mary’s -3.5 (4 units)

Boise State is 307th in the country in 2-point percentage (46.1%). That’s awful. The Broncos lean on 3-pointers a lot, making 36.6% of their shots from deep (63rd). They are a great rebounding team. Boise State is second in defensive rebound percentage (77.4%) and 106th in offensive rebound percentage (33.6%).

The Gaels are a great rebounding team, too. They are 59th in defensive rebound percentage (73.1%) and 24th in offensive rebound percentage (38.5%). The Gaels make 52.4% of their 2-pointers (158th) and 38.7% of their 3-pointers (30th).

Both teams are lethal from the foul line. Saint Mary’s shoots 79.6% from the charity stripe (7th), while Boise State makes 76.6% of its free throws (39th). Both teams are capable of playing tough defense, so picking the side feels like a coin flip.

I’m going with the Gaels only because I think they are a better shooting team than Boise State. At least, they’ve been more consistent than the Broncos. Picking any team to win by five or fewer points seems like a nice wager.

Over/Under Pick for Saint Mary’s vs. Boise State

  • Under 135.5 (4 units)

Betting on the under looks like a way to go in this matchup. Of course, we can expect a lot of free throws down the stretch, but these two teams match up against each other very well, and we should see a proper defensive battle.

Moreover, both teams prefer to play at a slow pace. The Gaels register 66.5 possessions per 40 minutes (281st in the nation), and the Broncos tally 67.1 possessions per 40 minutes (251st). The under is 13-7 in the Gaels’ last 20 games overall, and it is 7-1 in the Broncos’ previous eight.
