Bulls Look For 4th Win In A Row

South Florida walks into this one playing with real confidence after a 66–58 road win at Wichita State, a game where their defense completely dictated the night. They held the Shockers under 40% shooting, controlled the glass, and closed it out with the kind of poise you expect from a team that’s starting to believe in itself. The Bulls have now won three straight, sit at 17–9 overall and 9–3 in the AAC, and their conference profile shows why they’ve climbed the standings so quickly. They’re scoring 86.8 points per game in league play, leading the AAC in both made threes (9.8) and assists (17.3), and they rebound at the top of the conference. They’re also getting to the line more than anyone in the league, which has become a huge part of their identity. Defensively, they’ve been just as strong — AAC opponents are shooting only 41.4%, and USF’s length and activity on the perimeter have made it tough for teams to get comfortable.

Against Florida Atlantic, the Bulls need to bring that same defensive sharpness while staying disciplined against one of the most efficient offenses in the conference. FAU spaces the floor, moves the ball, and shoots it well enough to punish late rotations, so USF can’t afford the slow starts or foul trouble that occasionally creep in. Offensively, the Bulls’ balance is their best weapon — they can score inside, they can stretch defenses with volume threes, and they attack the offensive glass relentlessly. If they control tempo, win the rebounding battle, and keep FAU from getting clean perimeter looks early, South Florida has the tools to extend its winning streak in a tough road environment.

The Owls Are Fading

Florida Atlantic comes back home searching for answers after an 81–73 loss at Rice, a game that looked like a continuation of all the issues that have piled up during this five‑game slide. The Owls were beaten to loose balls, struggled to defend the paint, and never found the rhythm that carried them early in the season. They’re now 6–6 in AAC play, and the numbers tell the story of a team that can still score but isn’t getting enough stops to survive. In league games they’re putting up 79.0 points, shooting 46.3%, and finishing at 56.0% on twos, but the perimeter shooting has dipped to 31.1% from three. Defensively, they’ve slipped even further — AAC opponents are scoring 76.5 per game, shooting 42.1%, and getting 47.3% inside, and FAU hasn’t been able to control the glass or keep teams off the free‑throw line the way they did last year.

Against South Florida, the Owls need to rediscover some defensive backbone or this skid could stretch even longer. USF is playing with confidence, moves the ball as well as anyone in the league, and leads the AAC in made threes, so FAU’s perimeter rotations have to be sharper than they’ve been during this slump. Offensively, the Owls still have the pieces — they can score inside, they can run, and they’re at their best when the ball moves side‑to‑side before attacking. But they can’t afford the long defensive lapses or the second‑chance points that have buried them lately. If FAU is going to stop the bleeding, it starts with toughness: rebounding, contesting without fouling, and forcing USF into tougher shots. Without that, even home court won’t be enough to slow down a Bulls team that’s trending in the opposite direction.

South Florida vs Florida Atlantic Pick

South Florida vs Florida Atlantic Spread Pick

  • South Florida -4.5 (5 Units)

South Florida -4.5 is the side that makes the most sense because these two teams are moving in completely opposite directions right now. The Bulls have won three straight, they’re defending at a high level, and their offense has become one of the most balanced and efficient units in the AAC. FAU, meanwhile, has dropped five in a row, the defense has slipped badly, and the perimeter shooting that used to bail them out just isn’t there at the moment. The Owls are giving up 76.5 points in league play and struggling to finish possessions, which is a rough setup against a USF team that leads the conference in assists, made threes, and free‑throw attempts. If the Bulls bring the same defensive intensity they showed at Wichita State and avoid the early‑game lulls that occasionally pop up, they’re positioned to control the matchup and cover a short number against an FAU team that’s clearly fading.

South Florida vs Florida Atlantic Over/Under Pick

  • Over 165.5 (4 Units)

The Over 165.5 is the play here because this matchup brings together two teams that want to run and have the personnel to keep the pace elevated for 40 minutes. South Florida sits 15th nationally in tempo, FAU is 43rd, and both offenses are built around early-clock attacks, quick-trigger threes, and constant pressure on the rim. USF is averaging 86.8 points in AAC play, leading the league in made threes and assists, and they push the ball off both makes and misses. FAU hasn’t defended well during this five‑game slide, giving up 76.5 points in conference games and struggling to contain dribble penetration or transition spacing, which is exactly where the Bulls thrive. On the other side, the Owls still score efficiently — 46% from the field, 56% on twos — and they’re at their best when the game opens up. With two fast tempos, two aggressive offenses, and two defenses that have shown cracks lately, this projects as a game where both teams can get into the 80s if the pace holds.
