Disappointing outing for the Gophers
Minnesota is coming off a 77-65 loss to San Francisco in Sioux Falls, SD. The Gophers struggled from the free-throw line, making just 15 of 30, but that wasn't the entire issue for a team that never led against a solid WCC foe. Minnesota also needed overtime to beat Green Bay and struggled to beat Chicago State as a 27.5-point favorite, winning 66-54 on Nov. 18. Langston Reynolds led the Golden Gophers with 16 points, but also committed five turnovers. Cade Tyson added 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting. Minnesota was outrebounded by six and allowed the Dons to shoot 50% (11 of 22) from long range.
Tyson is a North Carolina transfer who averages 21.8 points per game and shoots 40% from 3-point range. Junior forward Jaylen Crocker-Johnson adds 11.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. The Gophers have depth issues since there are about a handful of players out or questionable. Robert Vaihola, a San Jose State transfer (5ppg) and BJ Omot, a Cal and North Dakota transfer, are both questionable for this game.
Key Injuries for Minnesota:
- F R. Vaihola (undisclosed) is questionable.
- F B. Omoto (leg) is questionable.
