Temple Eyes Third Straight Win

The Temple Owls are seeking their third straight win on Wednesday. Temple is in a battle near the top of the AAC standings. They are 7-3 in AAC play. The Owls won their first three conference games, including a victory against UTSA. The Owls also lost to FAU and beat Rice. Temple dropped a meeting against Charlotte in late January.

Temple concluded January with a win against USF. The Owls had a week off and came back with a decisive 81-73 road win against East Carolina on Saturday in a bout that had the Owls marked as 2.5-point favorites. Temple shot 43% in the win, and ECU managed a 47% mark. The Owls have covered the spread in three of their past five games.

Darrian Ford is capable of taking over a game. The senior guard has surpassed 20 points in nine games this season. He scored 11 points in the win on Saturday and has delivered an average of 17.6 PPG. Aiden Tobiason has been steady, posting at least 15 points in six straight efforts. The sophomore guard has recorded an average of 15.5 PPG on the season.

Jordan Mason scored 15 points on Saturday. The senior guard is having a decent season, averaging 11.9 PPG. Gavin Griffiths has reached double digits in two of his past five games. The junior guard has netted an average of 11.3 PPG, accompanied by 5.1 RPG. Masiah Gilyard has shot at least 50% in three of his last five games. The senior guard has registered 5.5 PPG.

The Owls are ranked 146th in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings. They are 5-2 on the road, including a win against UTSA. Temple is averaging 75.6 points on the season, marking them 235th. The Owls have conceded 73 or more points in three of their past five games and are keeping opponents to 70.3 points, pegging them 69th in the country.

Tulane Dealt Sixth Conference Defeat

The Tulane Green Wave are seeking their fifth conference win of the season. Tulane has been a streaky team this season. They had a great start to conference action, amassing wins in their first three games. The Green Wave beat East Carolina, FAU, and UTSA in January.

The success did not last as they sustained an extended five-game losing streak in January. Only one of those defeats was close, a 73-70 defeat against Charlotte. They lost to South Florida to conclude January and ended the losing streak with a road win against Memphis. Next, the Green Wave dropped a 75-61 home decision against Wichita State on Sunday. They shot a weak 36% while Wichita State posted a 46% efficiency. The Green Wave were tabbed 5.5-point dogs in that one. They are 4-6 in AAC play. The Green wave have covered the spread in two of their past five games.

Rowan Brumbaugh is one of the best players in the AAC. The junior guard has reached 20 points in five games in conference action. He dropped 17 points on Sunday and is sporting an average of 19.3 PPG on the year. Curtis Williams Jr. has shot below 37% in three of his last five outings. The junior guard has issued an average of 12.7 PPG.

Asher Woods only scored six points this past weekend. The senior guard is averaging 12.3 PPG. Scotty Middleton has connected on 60% of his field goals in two of his past three efforts. The junior forward is averaging 6.5 PPG. KJ Greene plays off the bench. The sophomore guard amassed two points on Sunday and has contributed with 4.7 PPG on the season.

The Green Wave are marked 200th in the country in Ken Pomeroy’s ratings. They stand at 8-6 at home, including a defeat against North Texas. Tulane is averaging 73.3 points on the year, marking them 276th. The Green Wave have given up 73 or more in each of its past five games, and is squandering an average of 75 points, pegging them 180th.

Temple vs. Tulane Pick

Spread Pick for Temple vs. Tulane

  • Temple Owls -1 (5 units)

The Temple Owls are in a groove, winning four of their past five games. The only defeat in that span was an overtime decision. They are also thriving on the road, winning three straight road games. The Tulane Green Wave are stumbling, dropping six of their past seven games. They have not won at home in that span.

Furthermore, Temple is the better team offensively, averaging 113 points per 100 possessions compared to just 108 points per 100 by Tulane. This is key in this one, considering the Green Wave defense is being exposed in conference play. The Green Wave have squandered at least 75 points in five of its past seven games. Also, the Green Wave have not been competitive in the losses. Five of their last six defeats have been by five or more points.

Over/Under Pick for Temple vs. Tulane

  • Over 145 (5 units)

I expect this one to have a ton of scoring. Temple is consistently producing offense, scoring at least 76 points in three straight games. The Green Wave are pegged 232nd in DI in three-point defense. They have squandered 97 and 75 points in their past two home games.

In addition, Tulane will contribute to this total. They are not posting huge numbers, but have managed at least 70 points in four of their past five games. The Owls' defense is not a strength. They are pegged 230th in adjusted defensive efficiency. The over has cashed in four of the Owls' past six games.
