UCF continues to roll
The No. 25 UCF Knights (12-1; 7-5-1 ATS; 6-7 O/U) are undefeated in 11 straight outings at any location. They started conference play last Saturday, beating No. 17 Kansas 81-75 as 4.5-point home underdogs to enter the AP Top 25 Poll.
The Knights committed just six turnovers last Saturday. They shot 43.7% from the field (7-for-23 from downtown) while going 18-for-26 from the foul line. Senior guard Riley Kugel led the way for UCF with 19 points and three rebounds.
Kugel is UCF’s leading scorer with 14.1 points per game, while fellow senior guard Themus Fulks averages 13.5 points, 6.8 assists, and 3.4 rebounds. The Knights tally 121.5 points per 100 possessions (27th in the country) and allow 105.3 points in return (106th).
Oklahoma State is coming off a heavy loss
The Oklahoma State Cowboys (12-2; 6-8 ATS; 10-4 O/U) put an end to their three-game winning streak last Saturday. After consecutive victories over Kansas City 91-79, Cal State Fullerton 94-89, and Bethune-Cookman 103-77, the Cowboys opened conference play with a 102-80 loss at No. 15 Texas Tech.
Oklahoma State failed to cope with the Red Raiders’ offense. Texas Tech went 17-for-37 from downtown and posted a 21/7 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Cowboys made just eight of their 26 shots from deep, and senior guard Anthony Roy led the charge with 22 points and eight rebounds.
Roy averages 17.7 points and 4.1 rebounds, while sophomore guard Vyctorius Miller posts 15.1 points and 3.0 boards per game. The Cowboys score 117.4 points per 100 possessions (60th in the country) and surrender 105.7 points in return (115th).
UCF vs. Oklahoma State Pick
Spread Pick for UCF vs. Oklahoma State
- UCF +3.5 (5 units)
The Cowboys can score, but their defense has struggled a lot lately. Not only did Oklahoma State just yield 102 points at Texas Tech, but the Cowboys allowed 89 points against Cal State Fullerton a couple of weeks ago. Even Bethune-Cookman managed to score 77 points against Oklahoma State last week.
Hereof, I’m backing UCF to keep it close and cover. The Knights are a very dangerous offensive team. They rank fifth in the country in offensive rebound percentage (40.9%) and 16th in 3-point percentage (39.0%). The Cowboys are 346th in opposing 3-point rate (.471) and 178th in opposing 3-point percentage (33.5%).
The Knights are 4-1 SU and ATS in their five dates with the Cowboys, who have only covered once in their past five games overall. UCF is 4-1 ATS in its last five contests overall.
Over/Under Pick for UCF vs. Oklahoma State
- Over 176.5 (5 units)
The line has been set sky-high, but I can only look at the over when it comes to the total. The Cowboys play at a furious pace, notching 74.9 possessions per 40 minutes (7th in the country), and the Knights won’t mind joining the party.
UCF tallies 70.0 possessions per 40 minutes (110th). The Knights will look to take advantage of the Cowboys’ shaky 3-point defense, and UCF allows a lot of shots from deep, too. UCF is 293rd in opposing 3-point rate (.437) and 157th in opposing 3-point percentage (33.2%).
Oklahoma State makes 33.5% of its shots from beyond the arc (183rd). The over has hit in 10 of the Cowboys’ last 11 games overall.
