Virginia Tech Hokies (16-8) vs. Clemson Tigers (20-4)

The 2025-26 college basketball season goes on Wednesday, February 11, with the Virginia Tech Hokies taking on the Clemson Tigers in the ACC showdown at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, SC, and we’ve got you covered with our Virginia Tech vs. Clemson prediction.

The Tigers aim for their third consecutive SU and ATS victory over the Hokies. These two teams met twice last season, and Clemson beat Virginia Tech 72-57 as an 8.5-point road favorite and 65-47 as a 17-point home favorite.

Let’s take a closer look at this Virginia Tech vs. Clemson prediction, one of our NCAAB picks for Wednesday’s card. The tip-off at Littlejohn Coliseum is set at 7:00 PM ET, and Clemson is a 9.5-point home fave with a total of 137.5 points.

Virginia Tech hopes to avoid its third straight L

The Virginia Tech Hokies (16-8; 14-10 ATS; 12-12 O/U) have dropped three of their previous four games overall (2-2 ATS). After an 85-71 defeat at Louisville and a 71-65 victory to Georgia Tech, the Hokies lost consecutive games against Duke 72-58 at home and NC State 82-73 on the road.

Last Saturday, the Hokies fell to 5-6 in conference play. They couldn’t cope with NC State’s offense, and the Wolfpack shot 51.8% from the field (9-for-21 from deep). The Hokies made 42.8% of their field goals (7-for-25 from deep), and junior forward Amani Hansberry led the way with 19 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Virginia Tech has five players with points per game in double figures, including Hansberry (15.2 PPG, 8.2 RPG). Freshman guard Neoklis Avdalas averages 12.6 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.1 rebounds, while senior forward Toibu Lawal adds 11.5 points and 9.0 boards a night.

The Hokies are No. 55 in the NCAA NET Rankings. They score 114.3 points per 100 possessions (83rd in the country) and allow 101.7 points in return (58th). Their defense is 26th in the country in 3-point percentage (30.0%) and 248th in 2-point percentage (53.3%).

Clemson eyes its fifth straight W

The Clemson Tigers (20-4; 14-9-1 ATS; 9-15 O/U) continue to roll and are undefeated in four straight outings (3-1 ATS). After putting an end to their nine-game winning streak with an 80-76 overtime defeat to NC State, the Tigers have beaten Georgia Tech 77-63, Pittsburgh 63-52, Stanford 66-64, and California 77-55.

Last Saturday, the Tigers trounced California as 4.5-point road favorites to improve to 10-1 in conference play. Clemson made 55.1% of its field goals (12-for-26 from deep), and senior forward RJ Godfrey led the charge with 13 points and five rebounds.

Godfrey is the team’s leading scorer with 11.9 points per game. Senior guard Jestin Porter tallies 10.5 points per contest, and junior center Carter Welling adds 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds a night. Senior guard Dillon Hunter averages 8.1 points, 4.0 boards, and 3.1 assists.

Clemson is No. 30 in the NCAA NET Rankings and No. 20 in the AP Top 25 Poll. The Tigers score 116.5 points per 100 possessions (67th in the country) and surrender just 93.3 points in return (10th). Their defense is 14th in the country in 3-point percentage (29.5%) and 37th in 2-point percentage (47.2%).

Virginia Tech vs. Clemson Pick

Spread Pick for Virginia Tech vs. Clemson

  • Virginia Tech +9.5 (5 units)

The Hokies are still without sophomore guard Tyler Johnson (9.5 PPG, 5.3 RPG), who’s recovering from a foot injury. Johnson’s absence is a huge blow for Virginia Tech, but I think the Hokies have enough weapons to keep it close against Clemson.

Virginia Tech takes great care of the ball (43rd in the country in turnover percentage, 14.7%). Avoiding turnovers and finding open shots will be crucial in a tough matchup against the Tigers, whose defense is 14th in 3-point percentage (29.5%) and 37th in 2-point percentage (47.2%).

The Hokies are a decent defensive unit. They managed to hold Duke to 72 points 10 days ago. I expect Clemson to beat Virginia Tech, but I don’t feel comfortable laying 9.5 points with the Tigers.

Over/Under Pick for Virginia Tech vs. Clemson

  • Under 137.5 (5 units)

Betting on the under looks like a way to go in this game. As I noted, Clemson heavily relies on its stingy defense, and the Tigers play at a slow pace, notching just 64.3 possessions per 40 minutes (326th). Yet, the Tigers are not a great shooting team, and they rank 16th in conference play in offensive rebound percentage (23.7%).

The Hokies record 67.7 possessions per 40 minutes (161st). Their 3-point defense has been excellent so far this season, and the under has hit in four of the Hokies’ last five games overall. Also, the under is 6-1 in Clemson’s last seven games overall, and it is 4-1 in the previous five encounters between the Tigers and Hokies.
