Washington State vs. Arizona State Pick
Washington State vs. Arizona State Spread Pick
- Arizona State (4 units)
Washington State has won two straight games but it’s tough to have a ton of faith in them at the moment. The Cougars were down 20 points in the first half before finally getting things going and even after taking a 17-point lead, they struggled to put the Silverswords away. Giving up 85 points to a Division II squad isn’t inspiring and neither was the production from Washington State’s starting five. The Cougars got just 23 points from the starters as opposed to 67 points from the bench. Ugbo didn’t play Monday while Thrastarson logged just 17 minutes because of foul trouble. Arizona State built some confidence by rallying to down Texas and Odum is a force at the point. The Sun Devils advance to the title game as they take advantage of the Cougars here.
Washington State vs. Arizona State Over/Under Pick
- Over (4 units)
Washington State is 268th in defensive efficiency this season. In addition, the team is a putrid 345th in effective field goal percentage defense (58.8%) and 246th in forced turnover percentage (16.3%) on the year. The Cougars have gone over the total in four of their six games on the season though that is mainly due to defensive issues as they have surrendered at least 81 points four times already. Washington State is 189th in adjusted tempo with 69.9 possessions a night. Arizona State enters this game having stayed under the number in four of their six games this season. The Sun Devils stand 89th in offensive efficiency, 165th in effective field goal percentage (51.3%), 41st in turnover percentage (14%) and 90th in free throw rate (.418 FT attempts per FG attempt) on the year. Arizona State is 100th in adjusted tempo with 71.6 possessions a night. Look for the Sun Devils to push the pace and exploit the Cougars’ defensive woes to put this one over the number.
