Chaminade Looking to Add Another Victim to History
Chaminade took down Western Washington in their previous contest at home, giving them a little momentum heading into the Maui Invitational. The Silverswords improved to 2-1 on the year and they have pulled some upsets in the tournament, posting an 8-97 mark entering this year. Against Western Washington, Chaminade racked up 60 points in the opening half en route to a 16-point advantage and held the Vikings at bay the rest of the way to earn the victory. The Silverswords shot 54.8% from the field, including seven of 21 from three-point range, and won the points in the paint battle 66-52 in the contest. Kris King led five players in double figures with 22 points in the victory.

Washington State vs. Chaminade Pick
Washington State vs. Chaminade Spread Pick
- Washington State (4 units)
While Washington State is a struggling team in the early going and dealing with injury issues in Ugbo and Thrastarson, the fact remains that they are facing a Division II program here. Chaminade has logged their upsets in their history in the Maui Invitational and their 1982 win over then-#1 Virginia is one of the most memorable ones in college basketball history. The Silverswords come into this game 2-1 on the year but they lack the size and depth to compete with Division I opponents. Chaminade should hang around for a while but in the end, Washington State pulls away to come up with the win here.
Washington State vs. Chaminade Over/Under Pick
- Under (4 units)
Washington State is 117th in field goal percentage, 284th in three-point shooting, 177th in threes per game and 300th in offensive rebounds per contest (9.8) on the year. The Cougars have gone over the total in three of their five games on the season though that is mainly due to defensive issues as they have surrendered at least 81 points three times already. Chaminade has put up points in the early going but those games were against fellow Division II foes so it remains to be seen what they can do against a Division I squad, albeit a flawed, middle of the pack one like the Cougars. As a result, lean toward the under in this contest.
