Wisconsin vs. BYU prediction

Wisconsin Badgers (4-0) vs. BYU Cougars (3-1)

The college basketball betting action continues Friday, November 21, with The Bad Boy Mowers Series from Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT, and we’ve got you covered with our Wisconsin vs. BYU prediction.

It’s a rematch of the 2025 March Madness second-round clash, when BYU outlasted Wisconsin 91-89 as a 1.5-point underdog. The Cougars are 3.5-point favorites this time around, while the total sits at 161.5 points, as the bookies expect another high-scoring affair.

The tip-off is set at 4:00 PM ET, so let’s take a closer look at this Wisconsin vs. BYU prediction, one of our NCAAB picks for Friday’s card.

Wisconsin shoots for its fifth straight W

The No. 23 Wisconsin Badgers (4-0; 2-2 ATS; 3-1 O/U) haven’t been properly tested thus far. They started the season with a four-game homestand, beating Campbell 96-64, Northern Illinois 97-72, Ball State 86-55, and SIU Edwardsville 94-69 in the process.

Last Monday, the Badgers failed to cover a 25.5-point spread against SIU Edwardsville. Wisconsin gave up 41 points in the first half, but the Badgers showed their strength in the second. They committed just four turnovers on the night and went 15-for-39 from downtown.

Senior guard Nick Boyd leads the way for Wisconsin with 20.0 points per game, while junior G John Blackwell tallies 19.5 points and 5.3 rebounds a night. The Badgers score 118.7 points per 100 possessions (26th in the country) and allow 99.1 points in return (29th).

BYU looks for a bounce-back performance

The No. 9 BYU Cougars (3-1; 2-2 ATS; 1-3 O/U) put an end to their three-game winning streak last Saturday. After beating Villanova 71-66, Holy Cross 98-53, and Delaware 85-68, the Cougars suffered an 86-84 defeat against the No. 3 UConn at the neutral site.

BYU covered a 6.5-point spread, but the Cougars trailed UConn all night and by as many as 20 points. The Cougars made just eight of their 26 shots from beyond the arc and committed 14 turnovers. They handed out a paltry seven assists.

Freshman forward AJ Dybantsa leads the way for BYU with 20.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while senior guard Richie Saunders posts 19.5 points and 6.3 boards a night. Dybansta is considered a top-five pick right now in the 2026 NBA Draft. The Cougars tally 122.1 points per 100 possessions (6th in the country) and surrender 99.2 points in return (30th).

Key Injury Report for BYU

  • C Keba Keita (head) is questionable. Averaged 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds last season.
  • F Kennard Davis (personal) is questionable. Averages 9ppg and 16.3ppg last season for Southern Illinois.

Wisconsin vs. BYU Pick

Spread Pick for Wisconsin vs. BYU

  • BYU -3.5 (5 units)

This is the first proper test for the Badgers, whose offense has been terrific through their first four games of the season. However, that four-game homestand is not a proper benchmark. On the other side, the Cougars have already played a couple of tough games against Villanova and UConn.

Wisconsin has a slight height advantage and looks like a better rebounding team than BYU, but I like the Cougars in this matchup. BYU plays aggressive defense and takes excellent care of the ball. The Cougars turn the ball over on just 11.3% of their possessions (9th in the country), and sophomore guard Robert Wright (17.8 PPG, 4.3 APG) has done a great job driving BYU’s offense thus far.

Over/Under Pick for Wisconsin vs. BYU

  • Over 161.5 (5 units)

Both teams are in the middle of the pack when it comes to pace. There are some lethal scorers on each side, so I will go with the over despite that sky-high line.

The Badgers are seventh in the country in 3-point rate (.529) and 98th in 3-point percentage (36.0%). Their defensive numbers are good because of their schedule, and the Badgers will have a tall task to slow BYU’s offense down. AJ Dybantsa looks like a real deal, and the Cougars make 59.7% of their 2-pointers (50th).

The over is 4-1 in Wisconsin’s last five games overall, and it is 13-6 in BYU’s previous six.
