Raiders Suffer A Bad Home Loss To Detroit

Wright State heads to Cleveland trying to shake off a 77–74 home loss to Detroit, a game that slipped away late and stung even more because it came against a team near the bottom of the Horizon. The Raiders have now dropped two of their last three, but they’re still sitting on top of the league at 11–4, and the offensive profile remains one of the best in the conference. In Horizon play they’re putting up 80.6 points, shooting 48.9%, and finishing at an elite 56.6% on twos. They get to the line, they rebound well enough to stay in control of tempo, and they share the ball at a steady rate. The defensive side is where the cracks show — league opponents are scoring 74.8 per game, shooting 46.7%, and hitting 52.7% inside, numbers that have made it tough for Wright State to put teams away when the offense cools.

Against Cleveland State, the Raiders need to reestablish the physicality and paint dominance that usually drives their best stretches. The Vikings play with energy, attack the rim, and force turnovers, so Wright State can’t afford the loose possessions and defensive lapses that cost them against Detroit. Controlling the glass, limiting second‑chance points, and keeping CSU out of transition are all essential. Offensively, the Raiders’ efficiency inside gives them a clear path — if they stay patient, work through the post, and avoid settling for early threes, they can dictate the style of the game. Wright State has the firepower to win on the road, but they’ll need a sharper defensive effort to protect their spot atop the Horizon.

Vikings Get Blasted By Robert Morris

Cleveland State comes back home trying to regroup after a 77–66 loss at Tulane, a game where they were outplayed on both ends and never really found a foothold. The Vikings were beaten in the paint, beaten on the glass, and struggled to generate clean looks, which has become a theme during a stretch that’s dropped them to 6–9 in Horizon League play. Their conference profile is a mix of strengths and glaring weaknesses: they can score (79.2 ppg, 44.9% shooting) and they’re one of the league’s best perimeter teams at 38.3% from three, but they give almost all of it back defensively. Horizon opponents are putting up 83.9 points, shooting 46.5%, and hitting 57.3% on twos, and CSU’s inability to protect the rim or finish possessions has been the biggest anchor on their season.

Against Wright State, the Vikings have to lean into what they do well while finding a way to survive the mismatches. CSU’s spacing, shooting, and ball movement can absolutely stress a Raiders defense that has been vulnerable all year, but they can’t let this turn into a track meet where Wright State’s elite interior scoring takes over. Winning the rebounding battle, limiting second‑chance points, and keeping WSU out of rhythm in the paint are non‑negotiables. Offensively, Cleveland State needs to stay aggressive from deep and force Wright State to defend in space, where they’re far less comfortable. If the Vikings can dictate tempo, avoid the defensive lapses that have plagued them, and turn this into a game played on the perimeter rather than at the rim, they give themselves a real chance to punch back at home.

Wright State vs Cleveland State Pick

Wright State vs Cleveland State Spread Pick

  • Wright State -7 (5 Units)

Wright State -7 makes sense because this matchup tilts toward everything the Raiders do well, especially against a Cleveland State team that just hasn’t been able to get stops. The Vikings are giving up 83.9 points per game in Horizon play and allowing opponents to shoot 57% on twos, which is a brutal setup against a Wright State offense that lives in the paint and finishes at 56.6% inside. The Raiders have had a couple of stumbles lately, but they’re still the most efficient scoring team in the league, and their ability to control tempo, attack the rim, and get to the line should travel here. Cleveland State can shoot it, but they’re too soft defensively and too inconsistent on the glass to keep Wright State uncomfortable for 40 minutes. If the Raiders play to their identity, they’re positioned to create separation and cover this number.

Wright State vs Cleveland State Over/Under Pick

  • Under 158.5 (4 Units)

The Under 158.5 has a real case because both teams can score, but neither one defends well enough to create the kind of separation that usually pushes a Horizon League game into the 160s. Wright State plays fast and efficient, but their games only get truly high‑scoring when the opponent can match them inside — and Cleveland State’s biggest weakness is interior defense, not pace. The Vikings actually slow down more at home, and while they shoot it well from deep, they’re inconsistent enough offensively that they go through stretches where they can’t keep up with their own tempo. Add in the fact that Wright State’s road games tend to settle into more half‑court possessions and CSU’s offense is far less explosive when they aren’t forcing turnovers, and the total starts to look inflated. This still projects as an up‑and‑down game, just not one that reliably climbs into the 160s.
