Bulldogs are back on track
Yale has won two straight games over Cornell, 102-68, on Saturday and Columbia on Monday, 91-74. That came after a 76-60 loss at Princeton as a 7.5-point favorite. The Bulldogs had won eight straight games, before getting crushed by 24 by Alabama and then bounced back with a win over Brown to start the conference season on January 5. They followed that with the loss at Princeton.
When you think of Yale or Ivy League teams, you may ponder teams that are slow-paced and run a lot of backdoors in a Princeton-style offense. Yale is much more than that as they are an incredibly efficient team ranking 79th overall by KenPom, 26th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 224th in Adjusted Defense. Nick Townsend leads the Bulldogs with 17 points per game, while shooting 51.6% from the field and 53.6% from long range. Riley Fox adds 13.1 points and shoots 50.6% from the field in 19 minutes per game.
Tough loss for Quakers at Crimson
Penn had won two straight games over Brown and Dartmouth, before falling on Monday at Harvard, 64-63. Ethan Roberts scored 27 points to lead the Quakers on 9-of-15 shooting (3-7 3pt) in the loss. AJ Levine added 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Penn was held to 41% shooting from the field, while the Crimson shot 48% from the field, which was key to Harvard's victory.

The Quakers rank 180th overall on KenPom, 151st in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and 230th in Adjusted Defense. Roberts, a 6-5 guard who began his career at Army, leads Pennsylvania with 20.1 points, while shooting 44.3% from beyond the arc. TJ Power adds 14.8 points and 7.4 rebounds, while shooting 44% from the field.

Yale vs. Penn Picks, Odds and Prediction
- Yale to cover (4 units)
Yale has won four straight and seven of the last eight games in this series. They've also won and covered two straight on the road in this series. Yale has also covered three of their last four and is 4-2 on the road. They shoot 50.5% from the field to rank 17th in the nation, and Penn's defense is not good, allowing opponents to shoot 45.1% from the field (257th). I just don't see Penn being able to hang with a very good Yale team, who struggled in their last road game against Princeton. They'll be reminded of that loss and will dominate this matchup.
Totals Pick for Yale vs. Penn
- Under (4 units)
Yale is a typical, methodical Ivy League team, at 275th in pace, while Penn wants to run. The Quakers have gone under in two straight, three of five and five of their last eight games. Yale has gone under in three of the last four games. In this series, these teams are 6-1 Under in their last 7 meetings.
