Arkansas' offense is electric
Arkansas (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS, and 2-1 O/U) dominated Alabama A&M and Arkansas State in its first two games, but got tripped up on the road last week in Oxford. The Razorbacks were competitive, but failed to cover as four-point underdogs in the 41-35 loss.
Senior QB Taylen Green put the team on his back, rushing for 111 yards and passing for 305, but his contributions weren't impactful enough. Both offenses were dynamic, combining for over 1,000 total yards. Arkansas was 9-for-12 on third down and won the time of possession battle, but missed two field-goal attempts and committed a costly late turnover.
“It was a heck of a game from two good offenses,” Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said. “We gave ourselves a chance to win it at the end. Two good SEC football teams out there, we just came up on the short end.”Green leads the Hogs' offense in passing (866 yards) and rushing (307 yards) this season. He has completed 68 percent of his passes with an 11:2 TD:INT ratio. Green's top receiving target is senior WR O'Mega Blake (18 receptions for 266 yards and three TDs), and senior RB Mike Washington Jr. (31 carries for 260 yards and three TDs) brings the boom out of the backfield.
Arkansas scores 47.7 points per game (11th) and averages 569.3 total yards (6th), including 324.0 passing yards (16th) and 245.3 rushing yards (14th). The Razorbacks' defense allows 20.7 points (66th) and 331.7 total yards (67th) per game, including 218.3 passing yards (83rd) and 113.3 rushing yards (51st).

Memphis boasts an elite rushing attack
Memphis (3-0 SU, 3-0 ATS, and 0-3 O/U) beat Chattanooga, Georgia State, and Troy by double digits in its first three games. The Tigers have covered the spread in six straight games dating back to last season.
Memphis won 28-7 last weekend at Troy, holding the Trojans to 112 total yards. The Tigers dominated on the ground, rushing for 218 yards on 44 carries (5.0 YPC). The steady run game allowed them to dominate the time of possession by nearly 14 minutes.
Senior QB Brendon Lewis paces the Memphis offense with 608 passing yards (73.3% CMP%), two touchdowns, and one interception. He has also rushed for 190 yards and two scores. The Tigers feature three players with at least 100 rushing yards, led by junior RB Sutton Smith (41 carries for 247 yards and four TDs). Junior WR Jamari Hawkins (nine receptions for 176 yards) is the team's top receiving target.
Memphis scores 37.0 points per game (42nd) and averages 421.0 total yards (55th), including 202.7 passing yards (86th) and 218.3 rushing yards (27th). The Tigers' defense surrenders 11.0 points (20th) and 244.3 total yards (20th) per game, including 175.3 passing yards (39th) and 69.0 rushing yards (11th).

Arkansas vs. Memphis Pick
Spread Pick for Arkansas vs. Memphis
- Memphis +7.5 (5 Units)
The Tigers have what it takes to keep the score close and potentially win straight-up. They have been stout against the run, as their defensive front has been impressive, which is a key to slowing down the Razorbacks. Memphis can limit Arkansas' ground game, coming up with enough third-down stops to slow the visitors' momentum. On offense, I believe the sixth-year senior Lewis can challenge Arkansas' defense. The Razorbacks were soft against the pass last week, especially mid-range and deep throws. The effects of that challenging contest will be evident this week, especially in the second half.
Over/Under Pick for Arkansas vs. Memphis
- Over 61 (5 Units)
The Tigers' offense will make this game an interesting one. Lewis was an ex-starter at Colorado and Nevada, and will have no issues moving the football against an Arkansas defense that surrendered 357 passing yards and 11.9 yards per pass last week. The Razorbacks also rank 111th nationally in third-down defense. With Green and a high-powered Hogs rushing attack on the other sideline, these teams are likely to trade scores for most of the game. Memphis' defense has been stout and can keep the visitors in check for a series or two, but Arkansas is a different beast than the competition the Tigers have faced so far.
