Boston College searching for a marquee' win

The Boston College Eagles are looking for a high-profile win, as their season is far from over, but they are running low on hope for a bowl bid. The Eagles are just 1-6 on the season, and would need to win their last five games to become bowl eligible, which would include victories over this #9 Miami team, and #12 Notre Dame and #7 Georgia Tech. The Eagles just took on UConn last week, and senior running back Jordan McDonald ran for 123 yards in the loss.

McDonald started his season with UCF for two seasons, and has spent the past two seasons with Boston College. He has 221 rushing yards on the season, but is not their top rusher as that distinction goes to Turbo Richard with his 431 yards and five touchdowns. Richard's best game came against Cal, where he ran for 171 yards in the tough loss. Dylan Lonergan was their starting quarterback early in the season, but poor play has led to his benching as Boston College plans to look elsewhere at QB. Grayson James is projected to start here. The 6'3 senior has passed for 324 yards with a 3-1 TD-INT ratio on the year.

Lewis Bond has been the top target in the passing game; he has 50 catches on the season, which have gone for 505 yards, but he is yet ot score his first touchdown. The defense has 12 sacks on the season, led by edge rusher Sedarius McConnell with 2.5. The defense has four interceptions from four different players.

Cardinals Fresh Off Win of the Year

The Louisville Cardinals are riding high, as they just took down the number 2 team in the nation on the road, defeating Miami before coming into this matchup. They will need to ensure there is no let-down performance here, as the Cardinals could easily overlook the 1-6 Boston College Eagles after their big win. Their only loss of the season came against #24 Virginia, their next win would make them bowl eligible, and they have no more ranked opponents coming up on the schedule.

In the Miami game, Louisville got out to a 14-0 lead to set the tone in their upset win. Miller Moss is their quarterback, the 6'2 senior came over after a career at USC, and has 1,606 passing yards this season with a 9-4 TD-INT ratio. Moss is a pocket passer who has thrown for over 300 yards in three of his last four games, with his top passing performance coming against Pittsburgh, where he threw for 339 yards in a win. Issac Brown is their top running back, the speedy 5'9 sophomore has 447 yards and three touchdowns on the season.

Chris Bell is putting up big numbers in the passing game. The 6'2 senior receiver has 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns after grabbing 44 receptions through the first half of the season. Their defense has 14 sacks on the year, led by Clev Lubin, who has four sacks as their top edge rusher. The Cardinals have ten interceptions on the year, led by linebacker Antonio Watts with three.

Boston College vs. Louisville Prediction and Picks

Spread pick for BC vs. Louisville

  • Boston College +25.5 (4 units)

Louisville just went down to the state of Florida and took out the 2nd ranked team in the nation in Miami. This is a textbook letdown spot, as the Cardinals will not bring the same intensity to a home game against Boston College. The Cardinals will overlook their opponent here, which will not be difficult to do as the Eagles are only 1-6 on the year. Boston College may not win this game, but they will easily cover the 25.5 points they are given in this one. Louisville did not cover this big of a number against Bowling Green or James Madison; they will surely not cover this big number against an ACC opponent. Miller Moss never turned into the NFL prospect that most of us expected. He will not lead his team to a blowout win here.

Take Boston College with the points.

Over/Under Pick for BC vs. Louisville

  • Under 54.5 (4 units)

The spread in this game is over three touchdowns, so if Boston College hopes to keep this game close, they will need it to be a low-scoring game. The Eagles will do everything they can to ensure this will not be a shootout, as they are better suited in a game in the 20s than the 40s against this fast Louisville offense. Boston College hasn't scored over 24 points in any of their last five games, while Louisville scored under 30 in each of their last two games. This will be a slow-paced game as Louisville underestimates their opponent, and the Eagles purposefully play a slow-tempo game.

Take the under.
