Colorado State Rams (2-5) vs. Wyoming Cowboys (3-4)

Week 9 of the 2025 college football season brings plenty of interesting games on Saturday, October 25, including the Border War at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, WY, and we’ve got you covered with our Colorado State vs. Wyoming prediction.

Last season, Colorado State beat Wyoming 24-10 as an 8.5-point home fave. However, the Rams are winless in four straight visits to Laramie, and the Cowboys are 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their previous nine encounters with Colorado State.

The kick-off at War Memorial Stadium is set at 7:30 PM ET, so let’s take a closer look at this Colorado State vs. Wyoming prediction, one of our NCAAF picks for Week 9. The Cowboys are 5.5-point home favorites with a total of 46.5 points.

Colorado State is back on the losing track

The Colorado State Rams (2-5; 3-4 ATS; 3-4 O/U) snapped a three-game skid in Week 7, beating Fresno State 49-21 in front of the home fans. The Rams were outgained in total yards, 469-334, but they won the turnover battle 4-0. CSU rushed 35 times for 190 yards, while sophomore QB Jackson Brousseau threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns.

The Rams failed to stay on the winning path. Last week, they lost to Hawaii 31-19 and fell to 1-2 in conference play. The Rams racked up just 261 total yards and gave up 435 to the Rainbow Warriors. Brousseau went 15-of-29 for 176 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore RB Lloyd Avant had eight carries for 50 yards.

Brousseau got the starting job in Week 5. Across four starts and one relief appearance, he’s thrown for 741 yards and six touchdowns. The Rams lean on their ground game, and running backs Jalen Dupree and Lloyd Avant have combined for 757 rushing yards and five touchdowns so far this season. Junior WR Armani Winfield leads the receiving corps with 19 catches for 261 yards and two touchdowns.

The Rams have struggled on both sides of the ball all season. They score 21.9 points per game (109th in the nation) on 332.4 total yards (110th). The Rams allow 27.0 points in return (tied for 89th) on 172.9 rushing yards (106th) and 236.9 passing yards (93rd).

Wyoming is 1-2 in conference play, too

The Wyoming Cowboys (3-4; 4-3 ATS; 2-5 O/U) started their 2025 campaign with consecutive wins over Akron, 10-0, and Northern Iowa, 31-7. Since then, the Cowboys have gone 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS. After stopping a three-game losing streak with a 35-28 home win over San Jose State, the Cowboys suffered a 24-21 road loss at Air Force this past Saturday.

Wyoming outgained Air Force 409-363 in total yards, but the Cowboys lost the turnover battle 2-0. Sophomore QB Kaden Anderson threw for 211 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, while senior QB Evan Svoboda’s lone passing attempt was intercepted. Junior RB Terron Kellman led the way for the Cowboys with nine carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns.

Anderson has thrown for 1,480 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions this season. Kellman has 267 rushing yards and four touchdowns on his season tally, while freshman RB Samuel Harris has amassed 556 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Sophomore WR Chris Durr has accounted for 30 receptions, 331 receiving yards, and three touchdowns.

The Cowboys score just 20.0 points per game (tied for 116th) on 365.0 total yards (89th). They surrender 22.6 points in return (tied for 52nd) on 168.3 rushing yards (100th) and 179.9 passing yards (26th).

Colorado State vs. Wyoming Pick

Spread Pick for Colorado State vs. Wyoming

  • Colorado State +5.5 (5 units)

Wyoming is arguably a better defensive team than Colorado State. The Cowboys’ passing defense has done a great job this season. However, the Cowboys’ run D has some flaws. Wyoming allows 4.6 yards per carry, and Colorado State will find a way to take advantage of the Cowboys’ shortcomings. Also, the Cowboys’ offense has struggled a lot thus far.

Hereof, I’m backing the Rams to keep it close and cover the spread. This is a huge rivalry, so both teams will be highly motivated. I expect a tight battle for all 60 minutes.

Over/Under Pick for Colorado State vs. Wyoming

  • Under 46.5 (5 units)

These two teams will find a way to move the chains against each other. However, they will pound the rock a lot, especially the Rams, whose passing offense will struggle in this matchup. Both schools will eat the clock, so I can only look at the under when it comes to the total.

The under is 4-2 in Colorado State’s last six games overall. Additionally, the under is 8-2 in Wyoming’s last 10 games overall, 5-1 in the Cowboys’ previous six outings at home, and 4-2 in their last six encounters with the Rams. Each of their previous three head-to-head duels has produced fewer than 40 points in total.
