No. 23 Illinois (5-2 SU, 2-2 Big 10) travels to Seattle to take on Washington (5-2, 2-2 Big 10) on Saturday at 3:30pmET from Husky Stadium. Don't miss this Illinois vs. Washington prediction and continue to read for all the key info, side, and total. The Illini are coming off a 34-16 road loss to No. 1 Ohio State on Oct. 11, while the Huskies fell at Michigan 24-7 to halt a two-game winning streak. This is the first meeting between these teams since 2014. When it comes to college football selections, our College Football predictions are stellar.

Illinois needed a bye week

The Illini were banged up after losing to Ohio State two weeks ago, so having the bye week should help heal some injuries. Leading rusher Kevin Feagin suffered a sprained AC joint against the Buckeyes after rushing six times for 22 yards. He has 338 yards rushing with five TDs, while catching eight passes for 100 yards and a TD. The Illini got behind 20-0 against Ohio State and never recovered. Defensively, they allowed just 166 yards passing and 106 yards rushing, but turned the ball over three times. QB Luke Altmyer completed 30 of 44 for 248 yards with one TD and one INT.

Altmyer is having a strong season with 1,821 yards, 13 TDs and just one pick with two rushing scores. RB Ca'Lil Valentine, who has 329 yards rushing and three TDs (5.1ypc), also suffered an injury in their last game, but is not on the injury report.

Overall, Illinois is not very balanced on the offensive end, ranking 43rd in passing yards per game (264.4) and 112th in rushing yards (118.7ypg), but that leads to 34 points per game (38th). On defense, they struggle against the pass (240ypg) and are decent against the run (131.3ypg). They also rank 105th in pass completion percentage against (64.7%).

Despite the bye, they do have some injury issues with CB Xavier Scott considered questionable with undisclosed injuries, along with LB Luke Zardzin.

Huskies' offense struggles at Michigan

Washington scored six points against Ohio State and seven at Michigan. They also put up 59 against rival Washington State and 38 against Rutgers at home. In other words, the offense has talent, but they were shut down by better defenses. Last week in Ann Arbor, they produced just 14 first downs, had the ball for 22:31 and ran for just 40 yards on 23 attempts against the Wolverines. It was a rough game for quarterback Demond Williams Jr, who completed 20 of 32 for 209 yards, but had no touchdown passes and was picked off three times. The game was tied 7-7 at the half, but Michigan outscored the Huskies 17-0 in the second half.

Williams Jr. is a dual-threat quarterback who is completing 72.1% of his passes for 1,837 yards with 10 TDs and four picks, while rushing for 363 yards and four TDs. Jonah Coleman leads the team with 568 yards rushing and 12 TDs (5.1ypc). Six-foot-four wide receiver Denzel Boston is the top target with 34 catches for 515 yards (15.1ypc) and six TDs.

Washington ranks 32nd in the nation in passing, averaging 269.6 yards per game and 37th overall (437.1 ypg). On defense, they allow 332.6 yards per game to rank 36th and 5.2 yards per play to rank 41st. Their best attribute is their run defense, which allows 98 yards per contest to rank 17th.

The Huskies are dealing with some key injuries up front on the offensive line as LT Carver Willis (knee), LB John Mills (undisclosed), TE Quentin Moore (undisclosed) and backup LT Maximus McCree (undisclosed) are all questionable.

Illinois vs. Washington pick

Spread Pick for Illinois vs. Washington

  • Illinois +4.5

This should be a pretty good game, but I'm concerned about Washington's offensive line as injuries were part of the reason for their struggles in the running game against Michigan. They also really have struggled against better teams, and found a way to beat a mediocre Maryland team down 20-0 in the second half. Illinois is coming off a bye, which should definitely help and they have the steadier quarterback in Altmyer. Having that week off will be helpful to Illinois' running game, which was hampered by injuries.

Over/Under Pick for Illinois vs. Washington

  • Under 54.5

No way! It's expected to rain in Seattle? That should slow the game down and force both teams to run the football more than they wanted to. Illinois hasn't been great at running the football and Washington has injury issues on their offensive line. Washington also allows just 98 rushing yards per game, so expect this to be a low-scoring one where field goals and field position are going to be the norm in this one. Washington has gone under in four straight games.
