Kansas Hopes to Seal Bowl Bid
The Kansas Jayhawks will be looking for their second straight win on Saturday as they hit the road to take on the Arizona Wildcats. The Jayhawks improved to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in the Big 12 Conference with a 38-21 win over visiting Oklahoma State last week. The win ended a two-game skid and put them one step closer to earning a bowl bid.
“We (only) had 10 points (in the first half), but we scored on both possessions,” Kansas coach Lance Leipold said. “We just didn’t get off the field. It was a very fast first half. I think we established a little better running game in the second half, that gave us the balance that we needed.”
Quarterback Jalon Daniels broke open a close game, leading the Jayhawks to four second-half touchdowns. Daniels was 13-of-19 for 110 yards and two touchdowns. Running backs Leshon Williams and Daniel Hishaw Jr. each had 14 carries, with Williams rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown and Hishaw Jr. having 65 yards and two touchdowns. The Jayhawks were an impressive 9-for-13 on conversions in the contest. They finished with 342 yards of total offense, including 232 on the ground.
