Tigers Ready to Take a Bite Out of SEC
LSU remained unbeaten as they won a snoozer over a badly overmatched Southeastern Louisiana squad in Death Valley last week. The Tigers improved to 4-0 on the season and stand 1-0 in the SEC as they face their second-ranked opponent of the year on the road here. Against Southeastern Louisiana, LSU led just 7-0 after the opening quarter before breaking the game open with a 28-point second quarter en route to the rout. The Tigers rolled up a 530-205 edge in total offense, held a 32-10 advantage in first downs and controlled the clock by a 34:44 to 25:16 margin in the contest. There were no turnovers in the game by either side.

Ole Miss Looking to Maintain Unblemished Mark
Ole Miss cruised past a solid Tulane squad at home last week to roll into this contest with momentum. The Rebels improved to 4-0 overall on the year and stand alone atop the SEC with a 2-0 mark in conference play. Against Tulane, Ole Miss was never seriously threatened as they led 10-0 after the opening quarter and 23-3 at the half as they rolled to the win. The Rebels kept the Green Wave out of the end zone until under four minutes to play in the game. Ole Miss owned a 548-282 advantage in total offense, held a 23-18 margin in first downs and limited Tulane to six of 15 on third downs and zero of three fourth down conversions. Those numbers offset losing the time of possession by a 32:29 to 27:31 margin. Both teams turned over the ball once in the game.
On the year, the Rebels are 14th in the nation in passing offense with 324.8 yards per game through the air and 25th in rushing offense with 218.5 yards per contest on the ground this season. Ole Miss is 12th in the FBS in scoring offense with 44.8 points per game and ranks 42nd in scoring defense by allowing 18.8 points per contest. Trinidad Chambliss is 42 of 62 passing for 719 yards with four scores while ranking second on the team with 195 rushing yards and two scores. Austin Siimmons (34 of 56, 580 yards, four TD, four INT, 69 rush yards, TD) has seen action as well. Sources say that Chambliss will get the start again here. Kewan Lacy leads the ground attack with 79 carries for 358 yards and seven scores. Logan Diggs (13 carries, 117 yards, two TD) and Damien Taylor (16 carries, 66 yards, TD) have seen work as well. Harrison Wallace III leads the team with 16 receptions for 343 yards and two scores. Deuce Alexander (14 catches, 249 yards, TD), Dae’Quan Wright (eight grabs, 213 yards, two TD), Cayden Lee (eight receptions, 156 yards) and De’Zhaun Stribling (nine catches, 132 yards, TD) are all over the century mark in receiving yards on the year. Lucas Carneiro is 16 of 16 on extra point attempts and 10 of 11 field goal attempts with a long of 54 this year. Mike Baker is three of three on extra points and has not attempted a field goal this season.
Simmons (ankle) was injured against Kentucky but is expected to be available here.
LSU vs. Ole Miss Pick
Spread Pick for LSU vs. Ole Miss
- LSU +105 (4 units)
Both teams are unbeaten the year entering this game. LSU owns a road win over Clemson and has also downed Florida this season. Meanwhile, Ole Miss’s best win may be over Kentucky on the road, as both their SEC wins came in one-score games. The Rebels have been excellent offensively but they will have a tougher time putting up points against LSU, which hasn’t allowed more than 10 points in a game this season. Brian Kelly’s team is battle-tested and ready to go here. Look for the Tigers to keep the Rebels in check and pick up the road win here to push their mark to 5-0 on the season.
Over/Under Pick for LSU vs. Ole Miss
- Under 55.5 (4 units)
LSU has stayed under the total in three of its four games this season with its lone over coming last week against Southeastern Louisiana. That was pushed over the mark mainly because the Tigers put up 56 points. Their other three games fell under the number by double digits as the games had totals of 27, 30 and 30 points. Ole Miss has seen the over post a 3-1 mark in their four games on the season. The Rebels have seen totals of 70, 53, 76 and 55 points this season. Seeing that we’re rolling with the Tigers here, look for points to be a premium and as a result, this game winds up short of the total.
