Can LSU play spoiler on Saturday?
LSU (7-4 SU, 3-8 ATS, and 3-8 O/U) eked out a win over Western Kentucky last weekend, but didn't cover the spread (24.5-point favorites). LSU has an interim coach, Frank Wilson with Brian Kelly let go and is focusing on Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin.
The Tigers were 3-for-15 on third-down conversions and committed nine penalties for 69 yards in their three-point win over the Hilltoppers, but played sound defense. WKU didn't find the end zone until the fourth quarter and managed just 152 total yards, including 22 yards on the ground. LSU dominated the time of possession but was a combined 4-for-19 on third and fourth down.
Senior QB Garrett Nussmeier has not played the last two games, as he was benched against Alabama. He's doubtful to play vs. Oklahoma, making backup Michael Van Buren the QB1 for the third straight week. The sophomore has passed for 647 yards with a 4:1 TD:INT ratio, completing 64.0 percent of his passes. LSU's receiving threats are senior WR Barion Brown (49 receptions for 486 yards and one TD) and senior WR Zavion Thomas (37 receptions for 443 yards and three TDs). The Tigers' ground game is paced by sophomore RB Caden Durham (100 carries for 463 yards and three TDs).
LSU scores 24.9 points per game (102nd) and averages 379.4 total yards (92nd), including 260.4 passing yards (51st) and 119.0 rushing yards (122nd). The Tigers' defense surrenders 20.3 points (24th) and 344.3 total yards (34th) per game, including 211.2 passing yards (40th) and 133.1 rushing yards (35th).

It's win, and you're in for Oklahoma
Oklahoma (9-2 SU, 6-4-1 ATS, and 2-9 O/U) beat Mizzou 17-6 last game, covering as 4.5-point spread favorites.
The Sooners did their damage in the second quarter, scoring 14 points. The Tigers outgained them, but didn't score in the second half, as they were a combined 3-for-16 on third and fourth down in the game. Oklahoma also forced two turnovers, moving one step closer to earning a spot in the CFP.
Junior QB John Mateer leads the OU passing game with 2,260 yards, ten touchdowns, and seven interceptions. His top receiving targets are junior WR Isaiah Sategna III (56 receptions for 827 yards and six TDs) and senior TE Jaren Kanak (34 receptions for 457 yards). The Oklahoma run game is paced by sophomore RB Xavier Robinson (74 carries for 408 yards and four TDs).
The Sooners score 30.0 points per game (65th) and average 385.1 total yards (84th), including 244.1 passing yards (67th) and 141.0 rushing yards (91st). The Oklahoma defense surrenders 15.4 points (6th) and 308.5 total yards (13th) per game, including 219.3 passing yards (50th) and 89.2 rushing yards (4th).

LSU vs. Oklahoma Pick and Preview
Spread Pick for LSU vs. Oklahoma
- Tigers +10.5 (4 Units)
LSU is a dangerous opponent for OU even with an interim coach, and it's worth backing to cover at 10.5. The Tigers will eke out a cover in a low-scoring affair, bending but not breaking on defense in the red zone (4th in opponent red zone conversion percentage). They will generate consistent pressure on Mateer and create a couple of takeaways, keeping the score within ten points. Mateer has been solid, but he's not throwing dimes all over the field, either. He's only thrown two touchdown passes once against an FBS opponent this year.
This hasn't been a great season for the Tigers, and they're just 3-8 ATS, but I lean towards their side on Saturday.
Over/Under Pick for LSU vs. Oklahoma
- Under 36 (4 Units)
The under is 6-1 in LSU's last seven November games. I anticipate another close, low-scoring game involving the Tigers late in the season on Saturday in Norman. Both defenses will make stops in this primetime clash, keeping the total low. LSU will be just fine creating havoc and playing competitive, low-scoring football. The Sooners will also shine on defense, as the Tigers will crumble facing their unrelenting pressure (OU leads the nation in sacks and tackles for loss).
