Missouri State vs Delaware Picks, Prediction, Odds, and Line Movement for Tuesday October 20 2026

Delaware Blue Hens QB Nick Minicucci

Missouri State visits Delaware on Tuesday night in a Conference USA game that looks considerably different after both teams changed the conversation at quarterback. The Bears finally secured a league victory in a last-second win over Kennesaw State, while Delaware nearly escaped Middle Tennessee with a win after turning to a true freshman under center. The offenses showed signs of life, but both teams still have considerable defensive work to do.

Delaware returns home at 2-4 after three consecutive losses, including a 33-30 defeat to Middle Tennessee. Missouri State is also 2-4 after kicker Yousef Obeid won the Kennesaw game at the final whistle. These are two second-year FBS programs trying to turn a promising offensive breakthrough into a sustainable Conference USA performance, and the quarterback developments are more useful than simply reading the win-loss columns.

Missouri State vs Delaware Matchup Preview

The immediate Delaware question is whether Tyler Bell can give the Blue Hens another efficient game. Bell made his first collegiate start against Middle Tennessee because Nick Minicucci was injured and threw for a Delaware freshman-record 306 yards and two touchdowns. His willingness to spread the ball around was encouraging: nine different receivers collected a gain of at least ten yards. That performance suggests Delaware can score without depending exclusively on one receiver or a rushing game that has been unreliable. It does not establish that Minicucci has been definitively ruled out this week, so the final quarterback announcement matters.

The concern is that Delaware's protection and defense will have to improve together. Middle Tennessee generated five sacks in the last meeting, and a freshman quarterback can be vulnerable if another opponent repeatedly puts him behind schedule. Delaware's linebackers Colin Gallagher and Blake Matthews have supplied disruptive plays, but the unit has allowed opposing passers to attack space behind the rush. The Blue Hens cannot count on Bell throwing for 300 yards every Tuesday and still expect to survive frequent third-and-long situations.

Missouri State presents a genuinely different passing attack with Henry Belin IV. In his first start for the Bears, Belin completed 28 of 39 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for 324 of Missouri State's 421 offensive yards against Kennesaw State. He completed all ten of his third-down throws. Isaiah Myers offers a big-play outlet and has accumulated more than 550 receiving yards while averaging over 20 yards a reception. Delaware's secondary must identify Myers before the snap without leaving easier throws open underneath.

The Bears can stay in this game because their passing improvement is legitimate, but they still have to fix a defense allowing more than 30 points per game. Missouri State has struggled to generate sacks or negative plays in the backfield, a particular problem against a young quarterback who benefits from a clean pocket. If Bell is able to throw on time, Delaware can sustain drives even when its run game is limited. Missouri State's best counter is to make Delaware work through long fields and lean on the reliability of Obeid in close scoring situations.

Missouri State vs Delaware Odds and Line Movement

Delaware has generally been favored between 2.5 and 3.5 points, depending on the sportsbook and timestamp, with totals appearing from 51.5 to 53. A Tuesday morning odds capture recorded Delaware -3.5 and 53; independently published prices have offered -2.5 and -3 with lower totals. Those numbers are not identical live quotes, and they should not be described as a single proven opening-to-current move. The half-point around three is especially significant in a game expected to be decided by one possession.

There are two plausible scripts. Belin could keep Missouri State ahead of the chains and turn the game into a last-possession finish. Alternatively, Bell's downfield distribution and Delaware's ability to pressure a less mobile passer can create a modest early cushion. The latter is our preferred outcome at a spread below a field goal. Delaware is the more likely winner, although the Bears' improvement under Belin makes a large margin difficult to project.

Missouri State vs Delaware Best Bet

Best Bet: Delaware -2.5 (playable at Delaware -3 or better)

The best available angle is Delaware -2.5, with -3 still acceptable. Laying -3.5 removes too much protection for a matchup between vulnerable defenses and new quarterback situations. The predicted 30-24 final is a football projection, not a claim that either offensive breakthrough is guaranteed to repeat. A confirmed change to Delaware's quarterback plan or a sudden move through -3 would warrant reassessing this side before placing a wager.
