Commodores Shooting to Roll at Home

Vanderbilt bounced back from a loss to Alabama by dropping #10 LSU at home last week, and they look to maintain their success here. The Commodores ran their record to 6-1 overall and stand 2-1 in SEC play, leaving them tied for fifth in the conference. Against LSU, Vanderbilt led 7-3 after the opening quarter, 17-13 at the half and 31-21 after three quarters before hanging on for the victory. The Commodores owned a 399-325 edge in total offense, picked up 20 first downs while allowing 14, and owned a 36:31 to 23:29 edge in time of possession in the contest. There were no turnovers by either team in the contest.

The Commodores enter this contest 58th in the FBS in passing offense with an average of 244.7 yards per game through the air. Vanderbilt is 21st in rushing offense as they average 213 yards per contest on the ground as a team. The Commodores are 8th in the FBS in scoring offense with an average of 41.4 points per game, while they are 35th in scoring defense as they allow an average of 20 points per contest. Diego Pavia is 129 of 183 passing for 1,569 yards with 15 touchdowns against four interceptions. He leads the team with 438 yards and four scores on the ground. Blaze Berlowitz (five of 12, 76 yards, TD, 73 rush yards, TD), Whit Muschamp (two of three, 40 yards, eight rush yards) and Drew Dickey (one of two, 28 yards, 13 rush yards, TD) have also seen action. Sedrick Alexander (63 carries, 361 yards, six TD), Makhilyn Young (27 carries, 296 yards, four TD), and Jamezell Lassiter (eight carries, 144 yards, two TD) are also effective in the ground game. Neither has attempted a field goal.

Dickey (cardiac) is questionable for this contest.

Missouri vs. Vanderbilt Prediction

Spread Pick for Missouri vs. Vanderbilt

  • Vanderbilt -2.5 (4 units)

Both teams are off to strong starts this season. Missouri has a bye next week before facing Texas A&M on November 8, while Vanderbilt squares off with Texas next Saturday. The Tigers had their issues at Auburn last week on the road in what was their first game as the visiting team in 2025. Playing in Nashville against a Vanderbilt squad that owns road wins over Virginia Tech and South Carolina in addition to that home win over LSU last week, is going to be a challenge for Mizzou. Last week’s performance wasn’t inspiring for the Tigers. Pavia and the Commodores have been terrific at home, and that carries them to a victory in this contest.

Over/Under Pick for Missouri vs. Vanderbilt

  • Over 51.5 (4 units)

Missouri enters this game having seen the over post a 4-3 mark in their seven games on the year. The Tigers have three straight unders after opening the year with four straight overs. Missouri is coming off a season-low in points last week against Missouri, but should have an opportunity to bounce back a bit here. Vanderbilt has seen the over post a 4-3 mark in their seven games on the year. The Commodores have scored at least 31 points in six of their seven games on the year. Three of their four home games have gone over the total. Vanderbilt is a top-10 scoring team and Missouri isn’t far behind. This one has the potential for a shootout and ends up over the total when all is said and done.
