The New Hampshire Wildcats visit the Syracuse Orange at JMA Wireless Dome, with the opening kickoff at 12:00 PM ET, televised on ACC Network. New Hampshire is 0-1 overall and 0-1 in CAA play after opening the season with a 28-14 road loss to UAlbany. Syracuse is a 32.5-point favorite at -105, with New Hampshire +32.5 at -115. The total is 55.5, while Syracuse is -100000 and New Hampshire +5000 on the moneyline. New Hampshire Wildcats Need More From the Running Game

New Hampshire managed 297 total yards in its season-opening loss to UAlbany and possessed the ball for only 20:52. The Wildcats converted 3-of-11 third downs and failed on both fourth-down attempts. Quarterback Brooks Bentley was the bright spot, completing 19 of 27 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Bentley connected with Ja'Carree Kelly six times for 123 yards, including a 45-yard touchdown early in the third quarter that cut UAlbany's lead to 21-14.

The Wildcats had far less success on the ground. Myles Thomason led New Hampshire with 53 yards on 10 carries, while UAlbany finished with 431 total yards and 26 first downs. New Hampshire also committed 11 penalties for 94 yards. Defensively, linebacker Trevor Barry recorded 13 tackles, while safety Jackson Stone had half a sack. The Wildcats allowed UAlbany to produce three touchdown drives covering at least 66 yards, including drives of 85 and 92 yards during the second quarter.

Syracuse Orange Start Over After Difficult 2025 Finish

Syracuse scored 16 points or fewer in each of its final five games last season, losing to Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Miami, Notre Dame and Boston College. The Orange averaged 20.17 points per game while opponents averaged 34.92. Syracuse also allowed 37 sacks and committed 23 turnovers. The major change for 2026 is the expected return of quarterback Steve Angeli, whose season-ending injury came after Syracuse started last year 3-1. The offense struggled badly after losing its starting quarterback.

Angeli has several new options around him. Ahmad Miller arrives after a 1,000-yard rushing season at Jackson State, while Ju'Juan Johnson adds another choice in the backfield. The receiving group includes Florida State transfer Elijah Moore, Cole Weaver and freshman Calvin Russell III. Syracuse also made major defensive changes after allowing more than 400 yards eight times last season. New coordinator Vince Kehres arrives after working with a Toledo defense that ranked second nationally in total defense, while Tunmise Adeleye recorded six sacks at UNLV.

Key to the Game: Steve Angeli Against New Hampshire’s Defense

Angeli’s return makes the Syracuse quarterback the central matchup Saturday. New Hampshire allowed 431 yards and 26 first downs against UAlbany, while four Great Danes touchdown drives covered at least 66 yards. Syracuse needs Angeli to restore a passing attack that fell apart after his injury last season. The Orange have added several receiving options, and New Hampshire must prevent Angeli from finding easy completions and producing explosive passes. Syracuse also needs its rebuilt offensive line to protect him after allowing 37 sacks during the 2025 season.

New Hampshire vs Syracuse Game Pick

  • Syracuse -32.5 (-105)

Syracuse faces a large number, but New Hampshire’s opener showed several problems that could become bigger against an ACC opponent. The Wildcats allowed 431 yards, 26 first downs and four touchdown drives of at least 66 yards against UAlbany. Syracuse gets Steve Angeli back after its offense collapsed following his injury last season, and the Orange added several skill players around him. New Hampshire also committed 11 penalties in its opener. With Syracuse playing inside the Dome, the play is Syracuse -32.5 on Saturday afternoon at home.

New Hampshire vs Syracuse Over/Under Pick

  • Under 55.5 (-112)

New Hampshire scored only 14 points against UAlbany despite Brooks Bentley throwing for 230 yards and two touchdowns. Syracuse struggled badly after Steve Angeli’s injury last season, scoring 18 points or fewer in its final eight games. Angeli’s return should improve the offense, but the Orange also have new pieces across the lineup and a rebuilt offensive line. Syracuse should do most of the scoring here without needing an especially high total. At 55.5, the play is under in Saturday’s matchup inside the JMA Wireless Dome.
