Oklahoma State is falling hardÂ
The Oklahoma State Cowboys lost for the third straight time last week, this time to Baylor, 45-27. The loss also marked the team’s second straight loss in Stillwater and dropped the team to just 1-3 on the season. The team has gone through radical changes after firing long-time head coach Mike Gundy after its loss two weeks ago and then dismissing defensive coordinator Tom Grantham after this defeat. Interim head coach Doug Meacham will have his hands full with a team that has now lost 12 straight games to FBS opponents.
It was a back-and-forth contest on Saturday, with both offenses excelling. Cowboys’ quarterback Zane Flores finished the day 23-of-41 for 232 yards. Running back Trent Howland ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the contest. Both numbers were career-highs for the back. In all, the Cowboys had 448 yards of total offense, including nearly 300 through the air. The 448 yards of total offense represent a season-high for Oklahoma State. The team performed some trickery as well, with wide receiver Sam Jackson completing a 26-yard touchdown pass to fellow wideout Josh Ford in the first quarter.
Defensively, the Cowboys struggled all afternoon to contain Baylor. The Cowboys’ defense allowed 612 yards of total offense, nearly 400 through the air and 212 on the ground. Bryan McCoy Jr. had eight tackles to lead Oklahoma State. The team allowed 29 first downs in the game, and Baylor averaged 8.3 yards per play.

Oklahoma State vs. Arizona Pick
Point Spread pick for Oklahoma State vs. ArizonaÂ
- Arizona -20.5 (4 units)
Oklahoma State is in complete disarray heading into this matchup on the road in Arizona on Saturday. The Cowboys have now fired the two highest-paid coaches on their staff, Gundy and the defensive coordinator, in the span of two weeks. That defense has been abysmal this season, ranking near the bottom in points allowed, run defense, and pass defense. They now get an Arizona team that is anxious to wipe away a disappointing loss on the road at Iowa State last week. The Wildcats should run wild over the porous Oklahoma State run defense. That ability to run at will should set up a passing attack that threw for over 250 yards last week. The Cowboys rank in the top 50 in the nation in rushing, but square off against an Arizona team that is 14th in the country in stopping the run. Given all that has gone on over the past few weeks, the Cowboys’ players can be forgiven if they already have their eyes on playing elsewhere next year as the AD sorts out this coaching staff. They won’t be ready for this one on Saturday.

Over/Under Pick for Oklahoma State at ArizonaÂ
- Under 55.5Â
The majority of the scoring on Saturday will come from the Wildcats. They’ll have plenty of opportunities to cash in on Oklahoma State’s defense. On the other side of the ball, however, the Cowboys will struggle to put up points against an Arizona team that ranks 33rd in the country in points allowed this season. Arizona will build a lead and then pound Oklahoma State with the country’s 24th-best ground game. That will keep the clock moving and shorten this game.
