Bulls looking to make a statement
USF crushed North Texas on the road 63-36 on Oct. 10, which was the only loss for the Mean Green this season. Their only loss in conference play took place against Memphis on the road on Oct. 25, but they bounced back with a 55-23 home win over UTSA last week as a 14-point favorite. The Bulls compiled 471 yards and won big despite having the ball for just 20:13. That's because they hit UTSA for a ton of big plays, including two defensive touchdowns in the first quarter, including an 85-yard fumble return from Fred Gaskin and a 40-yard interception by Tavin Ward for a TD.
The leader of the offense is Byrum Brown, who is completing 64.6% of his passes for 2,203 yards with 19 TDs and six INTs. He also has 705 yards rushing and nine TDs to lead the ground attack as a dual-threat QB. Keshaun Singleton is the top receiver with 33 catches for 573 yards. This is a dynamic offense that averages 485.2 yards per game and 226.9 yards on the ground. The defense is solid against the run (110.1ypg), which is a big factor in this game.
Will Horvath return?
Navy QB Blake Horvath was injured (upper body) against North Texas and did not play in their loss to Notre Dame. He's listed as questionable for this game, and if he doesn't go, that's a big blow for a team that he leads in passing (1,143 yds, 7 TDs, 5 INTs) and rushing (926yds). Braxton Woodson came in last week against Notre Dame and struggled in the poor conditions (snowy), completing 3 of 8 for 22 yards. Woodson is a big athlete (6-3, 215) who can rush the football as he carried the ball 23 times for 101 yards, including Navy's only score (41-yard run) against the Irish.

FB Alex Tecza adds 543 yards rushing, while Eli Heidenreich is the jack-of-all-trades player with 357 yards rushing with three TDs and 33 catches for 595 yards and four TDs. Navy's main issues, if Horvath plays, is on the defensive side of the ball, where they rank 114th against the pass, allowing 253.7 yards per game. It's expected to be in the mid-40s, so there will be some passing on the USF end. They are pretty good against the run, allowing 140 yards per game. Offensively, when Horvath is running the ball or even Woodson, this is an elite rushing attack, ranking first in the nation with 305 yards per game.

Spread Pick for USF vs. Navy
USF vs. Navy Prediction and Pick
- Navy +10.5 (4 units)
Even if Horvath is out, I'm taking Navy because Braxton Woodson is an effective runner. Annapolis is a tough place to play as the Mids are 5-0 at home this season and the Bulls are 0-2. The line certainly reflects the injury, but also the fact that USF beat up on a very good North Texas team. But they also have some holes defensively and Navy can exploit it and be competitive in this game. If you know that Horvath is going to play, take it up to five units, but right now, I can't go over 4 units on the side.
- Over 64.5 (4 units)
Another tough pick due to the Horvath injury. Yet I do think that Navy can move the ball with Woodson. USF has one of the top offenses in the nation and has averaged 52.3 points in their last six games. They've gone over in two straight and six of seven. Navy has gone over in four of their last five and their pass defense is going to have a lot of issues in this game.
