The Temple Owls (5-4, 6-3 ATS, 7-2 O/U) meet the Army Black Knights (4-4, 4-4 ATS, 2-6 O/U) in an AAC showdown on Saturday afternoon, and we have the prediction. The Owls were hit with a home loss by East Carolina last week. The Black Knights recorded a big road win against Air Force. Army posted a road win against Temple last season.

Can the Black Knights climb above the .500 mark on the season with a win on Saturday? Check out the Temple vs. Army prediction. When it comes to college football selections, ourΒ NCAAF PredictionsΒ are stellar.

Temple Dealt Blowout Home Defeat

The Temple Owls are attempting to climb above the .500 mark in AAC action. Temple had a shaky start to conference play but has since recovered, winning two of its past three games. They dominated Charlotte, followed by a narrow overtime road win against Tulsa a few weeks ago for their third AAC win. Next, Temple was charged with a 45-14 home loss to East Carolina in a clash that had the Owls as 5.5-point underdogs, dropping them to 3-2 in AAC play. TheΒ  Owls have covered in three of five conference games.

Evan Simon is having an outstanding season, but stumbled last week, managing only 80 passing yards and throwing a pick. The senior QB has surpassed 300 passing yards once this season and has 1,690 passing yards and a 21:1 TD to INT ratio. Temple will run more than pass. Jay Duck has surpassed 100 yards on two occasions this season. The senior running back posted 45 yards last week and has amassed 682 yards on the year. Hunter Smith has recorded 409 yards.

The Owls have depth in the receiving core. Kajiya Hollowayne has been dominant recently. The senior WR posted 300+ yards in his past three games and leads the squad wth 439 receiving yards. JoJo Bermudez is next up with 405 yards. The Temple offense was kept to only 233 total yards against East Carolina last week. They are averaging 372 yards per game.

The Owls' defense is a huge weakness. They squandered a stunning 600+ yards against East Carolina last week, dropping their season average to 389 yards per game. They have given up 30 or more points in four of their past six games. Curly Oronez leads the team with 59 tackles. The pass defense is ranked 35th, while the rush defense is being exposed, standing 121st.

Temple is averaging 31.4 points on the season, ranking them 50th. The Owls are squandering an average of 28.1 points, placing them 92nd.

Army Seeks Fifth Win After Triumph Against Air Force

The Army Black Knights are seeking their third conference win of the season. They stand at 2-3 in AAC play. Army had a weak start to the season, which included an upset defeat in the season opener. They have displayed steady improvement and have won three of their past four games. They beat Charlotte last month, along with a road loss against Tulane. The Black Knights had their annual rivalry game last week, posting a 20-17 road win against Air Force in a game that had the Knights as the one-point favorite. The Black Knights have covered the spread in two of their past five conference games.

Army uses the triple-option offense, which consists of a majority of runs. Cale Hellums attempts about 10 passes per game. He posted 102 passing yards last week and added 98 rushing yards. The junior QB has recorded 376 passing yards with a 2:1 TD to INT ratio. He leads the team with 711 rushing yards on the season.

Army uses several running backs. Noah Short has 362 rushing yards. Hayden Reed only managed five rushing yards last week and has netted 327 yards. Army only has two receivers with more than 200 yards. Noah Short brought in 52 receiving yards last week and has 226 receiving yards. Brady Anderson is the #1 target in the air. The sophomore WR has 306 receiving yards. The Army offense reported just 295 total yards against the Falcons last week. They are averaging 352 yards per game.

The Black Knights' defense has been key in the recent wins. They held Air Force to 335 total yards last week. This improved the Black Knights' season average to an average of 347 yards per game. Linebacker Andon Thomas made 10 tackles last week and has 69 tackles on the season. The pass defense is rated 39th, while the pass defense stands at 65th.

Army is posting an average of 23.4 points on the year, marking them 99th. The Black Knights are conceding an average of 23.1 points, placing them 59th in the country.

Temple vs. Army Pick

Spread Pick for Temple vs. Army

  • Army Black Knights -6.5 (5 units)

The Temple Owls are inconsistent, as seen in their 3-3 mark in their last six games. They were just dominated in a 45-14 defeat against East Carolina last week. The Army Black Knights are playing with confidence. They have won three of their past four games, including a win against rival Air Force last week.

Furthermore, the Black Knights have the better defense here. Temple has a good QB in Simon, but he will have a daunting task against a pass defense that is keeping opponents to only 201.9 yards per game, ranking them 39th. Also, Army runs in most of its plays via the triple-option offense. This is great news for Army against one of the worst rushing defenses in the country. The Owls are squandering an average of 192 rushing yards per game, ranking them 120th.

Over/Under Pick for Temple vs. Army

  • Over 46.5 (5 units)

I expect a ton of scoring. Temple has a potent offense that has scored 30 or more points in three of its past five games. They have reached 30 points in five games this season. Temple has been just as dangerous on the road, scoring at least 24 points in three straight road games.

In addition, Army has a quick offense that ranks 45th in plays per game. The Owls' defense has been exposed and is costing them games. They have squandered an average of 30 points in their five conference games. Army runs in most of its plays, and the rushing offense will tire out the Owls' defense. The over is a convincing 5-0 in the Black Knights' past five home games against the Owls.
