The Blazers fell to 3-5 on the season and stand 1-3 in AAC action on the year entering this contest. Against UConn, UAB struggled in the first half and never got back in the game as they were clobbered in the loss. The Blazers trailed 7-0 after the opening quarter, 24-0 at the half and 38-6 after three quarters before closing the gap in garbage time. UAB was edged 374-372 in total offense, picked up 23 first downs while allowing 20, and controlled the clock by a 31:09 to 28:51 margin in the loss. The Blazers were doomed by turnovers as they committed three in the game while failing to record a takeaway.
